Defence addressed the fact that Dinah Taylor and Pat Casanova weren’t charged with murder, even though the evidence certainly shows there were grounds, evidence and opportunity to charge them instead of Willie.
I have asked myself that question many times throughout this trial, and my only response is, “Because this trial isn’t for them; it’s for Willie”. However, you will recall Pickton's friend Gina Houston stated that Dinah Taylor was outraged that Andrea Josebury was paid more money for cleaning Willie's trailer than she was, and during the phone conversation Dinah had said to Gina that she wanted to "kill the F___in’ bitch," allegedly referring to Andrea Josebury.
Dinah Taylor was also linked to Brenda Wolfe, Andrea Josebury and Gina Houston, and she did allegedly admit to Gina that she had killed someone.
We heard Dinah Taylor went to the property whether Willie Pickton was there or not, and so Defence lawyer Adrian Brooks asked the question of what she did on the farm when Pickton wasn't there.
Brooks is trying to show that the evidence toward Willie Pickton isn’t consistent and that there’s not enough of it to prove Pickton guilty, since there is ample evidence that Dinah Taylor and Pat Casanova could very well have been involved. Brooks said, “The focus is on one and not where it should be”.
There are questions that are unanswered and evidence that hasn’t been fully examined or tested. There was a bloody pair of pants found that wasn't tested for DNA. Why? Why weren’t the entire tests of the DNA in the syringes completed? The list of questions goes on.
