Good news for women - thanks to a German company's invention, ladies now can go anytime and anywhere using the "Ladybag," the world's first portable pocket portaloo.
Smart heads at KETS GmbH invented the urinal-in-a-bag for busy women on the go, which perfectly fits in any handbag and will put an end to waiting in long queues for filthy public toilets.
"[The Ladybag] can be used in cars or to avoid dirty toilets or at open-air festivals when you don't want to queue. You can just nip round the back of the toilet and use this," says Ladybag inventor Eva Tinter in an interview with Der Spiegel.
It's the size of a chocolate bar and disguised as a leaf with instructions printed on the bottom. The mobile lavatory comes in handy and can be used "squatting, sitting or standing," according to the company.
The disposable Ladybag consists of a plastic bag fitted with absorbent polymers, which soak up the urine and turn it into an odourless gel, preventing any subsequent spillage. Like magic, the gel can absorb half a litre of pee, and in case of an emergency, the bag can hold an astonishing 1.25 litres.
"The gel prevents unpleasant smells and the bag can be disposed of in rubbish bins. It is not harmful to the environment," explains Tinter. "There's never been a product like this in this form."
The Ladybag comes in a pack of 3 for around €10 and is recommended for one-time use only. Since the urination bag launched last October, KETS GmbH has sold 20,000 via pharmacies, medical suppliers and the Internet with "orders from all over the world."
The urinal-in-a-bag is not a completely new invention as the product follows the launch of the Roadbag, a little car-shaped urinal bag for men in 2007, which now sells over 200,000 pieces a year.
In terms of a sales target for the Ladybag, Tinter and her company aim high as "(e)very glove compartment should have one and there are 40 million cars in Germany."
