WWE ECW Regal Teams Up with Kozlov

New Tag-Team Defeats Dreamer and Christian

The first ECW since the June 28 The Bash pay-per-view took place on June 30th, and featured several new superstars debuting and other stars moving up in the ranks of the ECW roster.

William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov Beat Tommy Dreamer and Christian

The main event featured William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov defeating ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer and Christian in tag team action.

The match wasn't great by any means, as Regal has been off his game the past few months and Koslov still hasn't improved his ring game.

Koslov got the pin on Dreamer to pick up the win, and he and Regal seemed to form an uneasy partnership. In the coming weeks there could be some angle between the two of them.

While Regal hasn't been as good in the ring lately, it is nice to see him get elevated to main event status on ECW. If Chavo Guerrero can be a multiple-month ECW Champion, then Regal certainly has the tools to do the same thing.

Also, it was good to see Koslov wrestle big named opponents instead of the local talent he had been wrestling since moving to ECW in the WWE Draft several months back. He's at a make it or break it point, and this was a good step in the right direction.

Sheamus Debuts

The nicest surprise of the night was the debut of Sheamus, who defeated a local wrestler.

Sheamus definitely has the look of a star. He's a big guy that looks and wrestles powerful, but also pulled out some athletic moves like a bicycle kick near the end of the match.

If he can continue to impress, Sheamus could be on a path similar to Jack Swagger's, where he'll quickly be elevated into the main event. On first look, the guy has all the tools to be a star.

Shelton Benjamin Embarrassed by Yoshi Tatsu

The most disappointing moment of the night came at the start of the show. Shelton Benjamin was just moved to ECW from Smackdown, and his first match back on ECW was against Japanese newcomer Yoshi Tatsu.

Unfortunately, the WWE creative department decided it would be funny for Benjamin to make fun of Tatsu in stereotypical ways for several minutes. This was both boring and painful to watch and listen to.

After Benjamin sarcastically bowed in front of Tatsu, Tatsu kicked Benjamin in the side of the head and scored a quick pin. This was hard to believe, as Benjamin is a former Intercontinental, United States and Tag Team champion, and has competed in more 'Money In The Bank' Ladder Matches than anyone else in the WWE. I'm sure it would take more than a simple kick to the head to knock him out.

Shelton Benjamin still deserves better. He, more than Regal or Koslov, should've been wrestling in the main event against Dreamer and Christian.

Abraham Washington Flops

While Benjamin's loss was the most disappointing moment of the night, the worst moment came with the debut of The Abraham Washington Show with newcomer Abraham Washington playing the role of a late night talk show host.

Washington wasn't funny, the segment wasn't good, and guests Brie and Nikki Bella didn't help a single bit. While the Bella Twins are beautiful, they aren't the greatest orators in the WWE. Add that with an unfunny "host" in Washington, and a segment that went on for seemingly forever, and you have a huge flop on your hands.

Hopefully The Abraham Washington Show will get canceled.
