High Hopes for Real Madrid Next Season

Spanish Club Signs Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema

Recently re-elected club president Florentino Perez has promised Real Madrid fans a new era after a disappointing last season failed to reap any trophies. The newly elected boss has hit the transfer market hard, obtaining some very lucrative players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.

In his last stint as Real Madrid boss, Perez bought over the likes of David Beckham, Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane, the latter setting the club back a whopping 47 million pounds and setting a new world record for highest transfer fee paid.

Smashing the World Record Transfer Fee

This time around though, he has again twice set a new transfer fee record in just a few weeks. The legendary Brazilian playmaker Kaka, signed with Real Madrid for 58.9 million pounds from Italian powerhouse AC Milan. Not long after, Perez broke the record for a second time when he signed goal scoring machine Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United for 80 million pounds.

Many saw the Ronaldo deal as an expensive payment, but he was the best player at Manchester United and he has plenty of good years ahead of him. Perez has started off strong signing two world class marquee players to help guide his team to victory this season.

Other signings that Real Madrid have managed so far are prominent French striker Karim Benzema, who was the top goal scorer in the French league for the 2007-2008 season. Last season he also had an impressive tenure, scoring 17 goals from 36 appearances.

Spanish defender Raul Albiol was also signed by Perez, he is known for his versatility to also be able to play in the midfield. He played for Valencia and recently played for Spain in the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Real Madrid Have the Talent

With the purchases Perez has made and the direction that he appears to want the club to move in, Real Madrid should be serious contenders for getting some silverware this season. They definitely have the potential to win multiple trophies if the superstar egos find a way to gel.
