MONDAY
Before July came along, Chelsea were strangely quiet on the transfer front. They'd already signed Jose Bosingwa back in May, and Big Phil had slunk in under the cover of Euro 2008. Then it all started to kick off with Deco arriving and Inter trying to forge a romantic reunion between old love birds Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard. Now we're onto the latest annoying saga to emerge from Stamford Bridge: Kaka.
Over the weekend, AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed that the Blues made a "conspicuous offer" for the superstar Brazilian believed to be in the region of £70million. Today, however, Peter Kenyon has played down such talk, insisting: "There was no offer made. They have made it clear that he is not for sale...There is no reason to negotiate over something they don't want to do." Funny, that's never stopped them before...
Another transfer saga which refuses to die is, of course, the one surrounding slave boy Cristiano Ronaldo. He, like all slaves, has spent the weekend lying on a beach getting a tan - as he's been doing since Portugal were knocked out of Euro 2008. The latest big news is that he's been courting four different women in between catching some rays, and The Daily Mirror feature him on the front page with the subtitle: 'We watch him romance FOUR women in FOUR days.' Ewww, aren't there specialist videos for that kind of muck?
TUESDAY
Sir Alex Ferguson gets back to the proper business today by giving the Portuguese winger some fatherly advice. "If you were asked for advice by your son, you'd give him the best advice and the worst thing Ronaldo could do is to go to Real Madrid," he explains.
