With lavish weddings, sun-kissed holidays and endless rounds of golf now just a distant memory, Premier League players have returned to their clubs to stroll through some friendly matches against lower league clubs or foreign minnows. It's the time to show off new players and new kits, and the first chance for fans to build-up crazy expectations for the new season...

Chengdu Blades 0 Chelsea 7
Chelsea continued their pre-season canter through China with a 7-0 thrashing of Chengu Blades. Frank Lampard started, while the recovering Joe Cole was on the bench. Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou led the line, and it was they who found the first two goals with well-taken strikes inside the opening half-hour. Lampard hit the third shortly after to make it three at the break. The second period ushered in a host of substitutions, one of whom was Cole, and the England international made an immediate impact by scoring the fourth on 54 minutes. Youngster Franco Di Santo made it five on 65 minutes before Cole sealed an impressive cameo with his second and Chelsea's sixth. Shaun Wright-Phillips then diverted Florent Malouda's drive to make it seven and take Chelsea's China tour tally up to eleven.
