MONDAY
It's not been a great day for The Artist Formerly Known As Cristiano Ronaldo. Firstly, it's been confirmed by the Portuguese national team physio that he won't be playing football for anyone for another three months because of his ankle surgery, and secondly, one of the men he hopes to be playing alongside after he recovers has poured cold water on the whole slavery row and told him to honour his contract. Clearly Fabio Cannavaro is no fan of emancipation.
Meanwhile, one of the summer's other big transfer sagas looks like it is finally coming to the boil, with Barcelona confirming that they have received bids from AC Milan and Manchester City for Ronaldinho. That still doesn't sound right does it? Poor City have offered more money for the Brazilian superstar, but are still believed to be behind Milan in the race to sign him. Maybe money really can't buy you everything...
The day's other big possible transfer news is that Stoke City have had a bid accepted for Scott Carson, which seems almost as odd as Man City chasing Ronaldinho. Could Carson go from playing for Liverpool/Aston Villa and England to Stoke City? Well, the best way to impress Fabio Capello next season would be to keep busy and we can't see anyone in the Premier League being much busier than whoever is playing in goal for Stoke, can you?
TUESDAY
One of the notable aspects of the summer transfer market is the knock-on effect that one deal going through or collapsing can have on so many other potential deals.
