Euro 2008 is upon us and the excitement is heating up. But as I watch the skill and grace of the world’s best, one unifying theme continues to draw my attention away from the action - bad hair. From the classic mullet to the braided afro, footballers have long prided their locks as a sign of individualization, yet they simply know no bounds. So as a tribute to the world’s greatest game, here are some of the worst hairstyles in recent football history.

For all Beck's looks, charm, charisma & talent his stylists have crossed the line of good taste one too many times to leave him from THIS list; them’s the breaks if you’re going to be a trend-setter. To quote the late Robert F Kennedy: “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”

It's not like the Jaromir Jagr mullet of old, or that crap he has on his chin now (I really don't understand it at all...I have tried to refrain asking him in person what that crap is on his face). I mean...all the other hairstyles you had up...those qualify as just BAD HAIR MOVES. But Becks trends were the trends of the time and all of them looked cool, despite his good looks.

He can make a stupid hair move, and it actually come across as being COOL. That's just Becks for ya. Shaved, bleached, mohawk, porcupine...whatever he does, he can pull it off. ; )

I was half-expecting to see Cristiano Ronaldo on this list, though. Even though he's the hottest player in the world right now (in both the playing department *and* the looks department), I think he's one of the last to sport the out-going Euro-mullet - blech!
