Ronaldo celebrates

I was asked to take one of the first five kicks, But I said: That is out of the question, I have come on basically as a right-back and you want me to take a penalty. '

That was the week that Manchester United won the UEFA Champions League, John Terry fell over and Cristiano Ronaldo changed his mind about his future on an interview-by-interview basis...

MONDAY
Apparently, if Manchester United win the UEFA Champions League later this week, they probably won't be having a parade to celebrate, presumably on the off-chance that a horde of marauding Rangers fans will come and make the city smell of urine again. This situation is made all the more ridiculous by the sight of Cardiff City's homecoming parade yesterday, with thousands of good-natured fans turning up to celebrate that while they didn't win the FA Cup Final, they did at least turn up.

Needless to say, Portsmouth's parade was a bit better, as they had a big trophy to take people's minds off the sight of Harry Redknapp trying to contort his jowls into a smile. He'll have been grinning even wider after finding out today that he will get some cash to spend on a few more players this summer. The phrase 'kid in a candy shop' certainly applies to Redknapp when it comes to transfer windows, except kids don't normally get to carry on spending after the shop has closed.

With the UEFA Champions League Final coming up, there is of course only one real topic of discussion on everyone's lips. Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo's future. Did I say 'everyone'? Sorry, I actually meant 'everyone from Real Madrid'. However, coach Bernd Schuster seems a little sick of all this gossip: "I don't waste time on these things. I think about who could come and not on speculation." Obviously he didn't get the memo, but I am sure the club's hierarchy will have got him on-message soon.

TUESDAY
It's not just Ronaldo at the centre of pre-match transfer speculation though, with this morning's papers saying that Frank Lampard is going to Internazionale.
