Steroids, and Baseball. There are some things that will never change while at a Major league baseball game. Sounds and sights that will stay with you for as long as you can remember. The excitement of not being able to get through the gates quick enough to get that first glance at perfection. But the question still remains, are steroids truly tainting baseball?
On the same exact day where more than fifty big leaugers, both active and retired are mention in the Mitchell report as violators of steroids we also saw Alex Rodriguez sign a ten-year, $275 million deal making him the highest paid baseball player in history. What's wrong with this picture? Is the game of baseball really in as much trouble as people are making it out to be? Are taking steroids wrong?
Yes they are. Is watching Barry Bonds break home-run records entertaining? With out a doubt it is. So again i ask the question is the game really in trouble? When you're spending your hard earned money on those Yankee tickets two months from now, I bet you're not thinking about how many players on that forty man roster are using steroids.
I bet you're wondering or perhaps hoping that Roger Clemens next start will be on that same day. You probably are not thinking about how many of Barry Bonds 762 big flys are actually legit, instead you simply would love to be there to witness him add to history. I know when I show up two hours before the first pitch is thrown, it isn't to gather with my buddies and discuss congressional hearings.
I'm there to buy a $7 Budwieser and make small talk with big leaguers during batting practice.
