The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived we heard from Justice James Williams. He told the jury of five women and seven men that they could are to go home for four weeks after hearing from the last of the 30 witnesses. I thought this day would never get here soon enough, it’s been a long haul for everyone involved especially the families of the six women; Mona Wilson, Sereena Abotsway, Georgina Papin, Brenda Wolfe, Marnie Frey and Andrea Josebury, most of whom I knew of from Downtown Eastside.

Justice James Williams has stated that closing arguments will be heard between November 13 – 15th. He will first address the jury, scheduled for November 16th, 19th, 20th, since summarizing all of the evidence and applying the law to the particulars of this case will be time-consuming “You’ll be tired of hearing my voice,” he said.

Justice James Williams stated that the jury will be sequestered, which means they will be guests if not prisoners of a hotel room by night until they reach a verdict. I’ve been waiting patiently for this day to come after hearing from 128 witnesses over the past 99 days of testimony.

I wondered if Defence would put Pickton on the stand on his own behalf, but after listening to the argument regarding his IQ, I could understand why they didn’t put him on. Pickton’s IQ was recorded to being between 86 - 115, which means he’s not retarded. Pickton showed a smile from the prisoner’s box during the debate of his mental IQ, which gave me a sense that he was playing a game of cat and mouse. One question asked was if he realized what he was saying to the police after his arrest.

I just finished some psychological tests myself when I was going for custody of my grandson, and some of the questions asked were pretty bazaar and actually, I thought they were pretty stupid. However, when I heard the outcome, I wondered how this stranger could come up with the results he did after meeting with him only two times.

I was only open and honest with him, which now I think was a mistake, however, I won in the end. That is until I got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
