Shop & Fashion Tips for Plus-Size Women

Online Stores and Style Advice to Dress 14+

Plus-sized women are often ignored by fashionable, trendy clothes designers and retailers who preference sizes and designers who favour slim, younger women. But there is another demographic of shoppers who are equally interested, yet stuck with limited options (compared to women sized 12 and under) - in store and online.

Read on to find clothing that will give these women options when it comes to beautiful, sexy and confident couture.

Online Plus-Size Retailers

Finding fashionable plus-sized clothing online gives most larger women more choice. Most companies ship internationally, so American and British plus sized-clothing companies are viable options.

Of course, the downside to shopping online is that you don't get to try the garment on first, the actual shipping takes at least a couple weeks, and you have to pay for shipping on top of the total for the clothing and accessories.

Here are some online options for plus-sized women:

Plus Size Doesn't Have to Compromise Style

In contrast to this variety, when a plus-sized woman goes to one of the two (if she's lucky) clothing stores in her area to find something new and fresh, she often has little choice but to pick through the plain black t-shirts, the boring buttoned dress blouses and the jeans that lack any sort of shape or detail.

To truly rival the fashion options of other sizes, the plus-sized woman needs to look outside these limited styles. Try on that sequined dress, or that animal print high-waisted skirt because sometimes once it's on, it will look like it was made for you.

Sometimes finding your own unique style, begins with accentuating positive attributes. Too often women think that tighter equals sexier, which is definitely not the case. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, some women don't think they're beautiful or sexy so resort to wearing lifeless, black tops and jeans that are two sizes too big.

Accessories to Dress Up Basics

There are few accessories that work like magic if you're stuck with a basic style or colour and need a little punch. If you're wearing a long, tunic-like top, match it with a belt just under the bust to avoid it looking like a muumuus. If you're really set on wearing a solid, black blouse or sweater, accessorize with a big, colourful necklace and bracelet.

If you're going out for a night of dancing or to an evening work function and you have a fabulous short dress, wear solid or patterned black tights. Lastly, if one day you look in your closet and can't find anything that will make you feel confident and sassy, spend extra time on your hair.
