A teenage girl from Belgium who claims she fell asleep while receiving a facial tattoo has admitted she lied to quell her father's rage. She was also upset because her boyfriend dumped her after he didn't like the 50 stars tattooed on her face.
She told the media she had asked for only three stars, but after falling asleep awoke in horror to find a veritable galaxy on her face. This left a number of tattoo artists and doctors questioning the accuracy of the story due to the amount of pain inflicted during such a procedure.
Experts claimed the girl would had to have been under the influence of drugs or hypnosis, a claim the tattoo artist, Rouslan Toumaniantz, dismissed as ridiculous. She blamed Toumaniantz, a Romanian whom she alleged failed to understand what she was requesting for the tattoo that stretches across half her face.
The tattoo artist has gone so far as to generously offer to pay for half of the tattoo removal, but claimed that he followed her instructions precisely. Police questioned Mr. Tourmaniantz, but released him citing no wrongdoing in a criminal capacity and if anything, it was a civil matter for the courts to decide.
Mr. Tourmaniantz alledges the girl was happy with the tattooing when she left his shop, but changed her mind when her father saw the stars.
"She's 18 years old, she's an adult," he said. "I don't regret it. To tell you the truth, this has given me some publicity." Mr Tourmaniantz has implemented a new system where people who want facial tattoos will have to sign consent forms.
Kimberly Vlaminck is now thinking about getting the tattoos removed but there is no guarantee that the laser removal, a long and painful procedure, won't leave irreversible scarring to the teenager's face. Even the most advanced laser techniques would, while removing the tattoos, leave deep white marks all across Kimberley's face.
