Ramiele Malubay Says Goodbye To American Idol

I’m just glad I took everything in.

Other years you could kind of tell who might win, but I really don’t know who is going to take it this year. It wouldn’t be a surprise for any of them to be winners. '

My goal was just to get by week by week. It’s pretty much taken over my whole life, but it’s a good thing. It’s actually the first real big thing that’s happened to me. It’s exposure and it’s a future. I’m really grateful to the judges for getting me as far as I did. I hope nobody is disappointed.

Simon said I was a “hotel singer” the very first audition. Simon likes me, I know he does. He’s a really nice guy! Backstage when I left the show he came and said, “Cry on my shoulder.” He told me it was the song choice, and I said, “Yes Simon, I know.”

I do believe that in my heart he says the things he says because he just wants us to be better. He saw something in us and wanted us to do well.

Through the experience I learned to be a more humble person, to appreciate the little things and be more courteous to people…to acknowledge every person that worked on the show. I learned so much from the band, the mentor we got this week and the vocal coaches. It’s amazing to work with those people.

In terms of predictions, I think we all went into this being totally different from each other, and then growing so much more to perfect our differences. Other years you could kind of tell who might win, but I really don’t know who is going to take it this year. It wouldn’t be a surprise for any of them to be winners.

My advice to future contestants is just to be yourselves. Enjoy every single moment, because if you think too far ahead, you’re going to miss the fun stuff. I’m just glad I took everything in.
