Preamble:

Why is it that we are all focussed so far away for our news? Is nothing interesting going on in your neighborhood, in your lives? Are we always spectators, reporters of national, "important" events, mesmerized by the huge spectacles? This leads us to believe that nothing important happens to us in our daily lives. Could this be why we are all living so vicariously off the news, off TV, off the stars? All the good stuff goes on elsewhere? No wonder so many aren't satisfied with their lives, they avoid the the rich drama which is all around them and see things as better elsewhere, learn later, circumnavigating everyday reality.

Body:

Just some personal thoughts that I’d like to share about what I feel might be a relatively untapped aspect of the internet. Yes of course I’ve just smoked a fatty and am soaring, free-associating, lateral transposition of thought. I say this so that those who wish to, can bail out now. I'm into honesty, not the BS I see so much of here.

Why would we be so narrowly focused as to headline news being the only venue for current events? Why is this website focusing on the same stuff coming at you, which comes from all media: the headlines. Why not the words and personal insights and revelations, attitudes of the writers? Is there no knowledge, treasures to behold in the events of an average person who makes mistakes? Nothing interesting to discuss except the never ending primaries? Did no one else notice the sadness hurt in Yoko Ono's post? I bet she misses, John!

Fritzl, and the guy who killed his three children here in Merit, are already being deleted by my mind, because I don’t wish to market their names. I’m constantly current, inundated with info, of course we all have opinions. And many including myself have solutions.

Not every solution is valid though. Solutions and decisions based on the type of thinking displayed often here, on emotions such as hate, vengeance, vanity, belief in a supreme being, are scary to me, because I’ve learned to think in a scientific way. I observe, I consider, I apply the right deductions (so far) according to the requirements, in a fluid, dynamic way.

You may laugh and say, “Yeah right, so you say!”

I can show you my driving record, where for forty years, usually under the influence of Cannabis, I never made a SINGLE mistake. I foot-launched my hang gliders off mountain tops, on vehicle tows and on aero-tows and I’m still here. So when I say that I consider everything on an ongoing basis using rational deductions and scientific reasoning, honing my intelligence to be able to make thousands of life/death decisions successfully, I have the proof I’ve done it.

I started learning early by evaluating my life and those around me closely, and have never stopped (I learn from the small everyday things that happen to me). The best lessons are the ones that you have to work through personally. There is pleasure turning everything over a few times for me. I seldom worry a bone such as Fritzl with hate for long. What's the point?.

I’d rather see the Neighborhood News, or how you personally feel about things, real life stuff.

It’s a shame that although we have a tool that lets us create a close community, a virtual neighborhood, around the planet, all we want to do is regurgitate headline news endlessly. I see this as another cop-out, a way to stay distant so that people can throw cyber rocks, impersonally, clandestinely. No community, just distant, removed “important things.” Never have to consider anything personal if we keep our eyes on the headlines, do we?

The real important things happen to each of us in our daily lives, not in Austria, China, Afghanistan, Baghdad. What is important, is how each of us react to things in the news and what we learn personally from them.. There is not enough of it, real life, in my opinion. It’s hard to conceive that we have a billion people on the internet and not much new insight, or original thought ever happens, how little actual learning through social interaction takes place.

It’s all the same small minded sh*t. No wonder the marketers rule us so. Humans are a large troop of dumb apes. The entire contributions of all whose insights and ideas which moved us forward in technology and science, in every area of human knowledge, can be attributed to less than one tenth of one percent of all those who ever lived. The rest of us are the slaves to the machinery of the state to make our rulers powerful. Mindless, numb, in the grip of the marketers (religious, political, consumer), we are methane producers overpopulating our range, destroying our habitat, because our leaders don’t have any limits to their greed and we are too stupid to do something about it.

Thankfully it will soon be over.
