Preamble:

Terrorism is an unspeakable evil. Ever since the dreadful fate of 9/11 North Americans have been on the look out for things suspicious. Homeland Security south of the border manages to collar two troublemakers who just happen to be Harold and Kumar. Never mind that this pair are on a routine trip to Amsterdam, a liberal city if there ever was won. Up against the American justice system it’s a quick diversion to Cuba’s Guantanamo Bay where these suckers land.

Body:

Not willing to take such false imprisonment lying down the pair “miraculously” escape the shark-infested waters that would pay homage to retreats from San Francisco’s Alcatraz. Once back home the duo embark on a hilarious cross country trek to clear their names, all the while being hunted night and day by those quick draw federal agents out to send the bad apples back to jail.

Riotous fun is on tap here. Once again John Cho (American Pie) and Kal Penn (Van Wilder) reprise their patented roles with Cho portraying the straight laced Harold and Penn clowning it up as the rambunctious Kumar. Sure to appeal to teens and the young at heart the politically “incorrectness” here is played to the hilt. Episodes of drugs, wild sex parties and the like all come home to roost in this funny 102 minute journey.

Subplots here involve past loves and some goody two shoes socialites who don’t exactly fit the mould of the rowdiness Kumar and Harold normally practice. Leave your inhibitions at the door to experience low brow humour that manages to make a few sharp points on stereotyping, racism and the like in this promiscuous tale of righting a wrong with comic pratfalls sprinkled liberally along the way.

Brought to us by Alliance Films fans of the series can look forward to a third segment in this comic cannon.
