Contract this loser with the new man in Libby’s life, the urbane and sophisticated Whit. Our new man is everything that Dennis is not, including being an absolute hunk. Left also somewhat out in the cold is young son Jake who becomes the pawn in a tug of war between the two men. Also caught between these two totally different men is Libby who seems to have fallen for Whit’s charm hard and fast.
Reluctant to lose at love after a five year hiatus Dennis decides to embark on a wacky program to win Libby back. Jokes come fast and furious as this sad sack attempts to compete head on with Whit, a man whose prime in seemingly everything he does. Shades or Rocky burst forth as Dennis does what he can to buck up and get in shape for a showdown over the hearts of those he truly love.
Wild and crazy Run, Fatboy, Run is another tale of the underdog with Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) hilarious as this low-level loser pushed to the nth degree to win back his girl. Sexy Thandie Newton (Mission Impossible: II) subtly uses her charm as the well-meaning woman caught between two romantic fools with Hank Azaria (Godzilla) firing on all cylinders as the slick suitor out to win our lady’s heart.
Good use of British locations and deft use of the country’s multicultural society further enliven this feel good movie. Fans of outrageous British humour will love this story as will both athletes and couch potatoes in this story of a three-time loser out to make amends. Bittersweet revenge in on tap here with big time laughs and even a few wet eyes.
