I recently saw a facebook group discussion about who was the top Jedi/Sith in the Star Wars universe and I thought it was pretty neat. Granted, the discussion was between boys under the age of 14 and grown men who live in their sister's basement suite, but I digress. Here are the top 9 Jedi and Sith of all time.
Editors Note: Only characters from the movies were eligible, so all the fanboys shouting out "Exar Kun!" and "Kyp Durron", settle down.

Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Trisha Baptie, April 10, 2008 at 08:55OK, I will admit I don't know to much about the whole jedi/sith thing but I do like watchin the movies!
My 13 year old son just excitedly said a whole bunch of names? descriptions? points to make? but seeming as how it all sounded like a foreign language, I am just going to support Heather with her Ewan M. voting.....and say yes Yoda has a whole lotta cute factor goin on!!

By luyen, April 10, 2008 at 11:37Gawd Trisha! Everyone knows cuteness only counts for half a Jedi's power! The other comes from gracefully smashing your opponent to bits!
You know it's incredible the first movie came out when I was 6 years old, but kids nowadays are as much of star wars fans as people back then!

By Melkor, April 10, 2008 at 08:20I want to vote for Darth W. Bush as #1 Sith/Jedi please.

By Heather Wallace, April 9, 2008 at 15:41Can I vote for 'Trainspotting' is the greatest film of all time? Oh, this isn't the Ewan McGregor discussion? Sorry, I'm in the wrong room...
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By luyen, April 9, 2008 at 17:00Heather, when you saw "Top 9 Greatest Jedi" it's equivalent to the pubescent "no gurls allowed" sign...hehe...
p.s. Princess Leia, counts as a semi-Jedi...how come there are no girl jedis! Leave it to the brutes to ruin the universe!
Luke Skywalker will always be the greatest Jedi, why? Because he's the last one standing...and his cyborg right hand can open all sorts of cans.
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Melkor, April 9, 2008 at 15:36A very interesting discussion, finally something up my alley!
For the sake of this comment, I will set aside my firmly held belief that George Lucas was abducted in 1985 and replaced by some mutated idiot who in no way knows how to tell a story. My God, it’s not like the writing in the original trilogy was stellar (or the acting for that matter) but the new movies make the old look like a Cohen brothers script. Any road...
Qui-Gon Jinn is without doubt the biggest mistake made by the writer/director/producer or whomever. As such he does not belong on this list. If you can manage to sit through the stink of the first one again, count to see just how often this supposed ‘Jedi’ is absolutely wrong – wrong about the facts, wrong instincts, wrong about the nature of the force (what the Christ is a Metaclorian anyway? Seems like someone is superimposing monad theory or something it pisses me off to no end I get so mad thinking about this gigantic dropped ball I may start reneging on my original promise) – to the point where it’s a good thing Darth Maul kills him – it was really the only chance the ‘good’ side had.
And I always thought Obi-Wan was the apprentice of Yoda. Lucas is so full of sh.t if he expects us to believe he had this story thought out in advance. I’ll stop now; I’ll rant at my cat.
And by the way, my sister and parents live 2500 miles away from me. Not sure how many parsecs that is.

By Brandon, April 9, 2008 at 15:34How is Darth Vader not #1????!!!!
This is a travesty!
I'm even going to comment on the rest of the list's many deficiencies until this first tragic mistake is corrected.
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Mike Small, April 9, 2008 at 15:41I think when Obi-Wan beat him by cutting off his legs and arm, it pretty much summed up who was number one.
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Brandon, April 9, 2008 at 15:45Please! We're talking about Darth Vader qua Darth Vader - the Black cloacked cyborg monstrosity from Star Wars, not some manic-depressive with a penchant for crying... Darth Vader from the Empire Strikes Back is the greatest jedi/sith ever, no question. Whatever side he's on prevails, ergo, he's the best - plus he's the most iconic, and the coolest looking.
Number 2 is Darth Sidious, because he wins (right up until Darth Vader crosses him)
Then Yoda, obviously...
Sheesh... do I have to do everything around here?
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Brandon, April 9, 2008 at 15:39Come to think of it - the whole list is Jedi biased! Typical left-wing media!
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Melkor, April 9, 2008 at 15:46Now that is funny sh.t. I suppose I'd expect the Fox list to have Lord Vadar #1?
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Brandon, April 9, 2008 at 15:59Well come on now... how is Darth Sidious not higher than Yoda?!
Let's revisit the narrative shall we - he outsmarts the entire Jedi population - including everyone's favourite muppet, he outduels the little goblin, despite his considerable hopping powers, he steals his best pupil right out from underneath him, he wrests away control of the entire senate right under his nose, he tricks him into a war of his devising, he forces him to hide in the swamps of the Dagoba system for decades - that's right - hides, like a mouse. Like a scared child from the bogey man.
But ooh a little Jim Henson and presto Yoda's on top. Please!
Nota Bene - Yoda did not have a hand in teaching Darth Sidious... contrary to the note on his picture.

Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Mike Small, April 9, 2008 at 18:52Haha I agree that Sidious might be able to be move up a few spots, but I think you're not really giving Yoda credit. 900 years he was a great Jedi, and who knows how long he was the top Jedi in the council. Sidious was only in power for a little over 20 years.
I'm glad to see that Star Wars still sparks debate, I think it's a fun conversation.
One last thing, I believe the note says Yoda helped train all the Jedi on the list, not the Sith.
Re: The Top 9 Greatest Jedi/Sith Of All Time
By Paul Sullivan, April 12, 2008 at 11:13Sorry, anything that can be made into a plush toy for small children is disqualified. I thought Darth Maul was pretty cool, but you gotta respect Darth Sidious -- he has the best fake identity. Clark Kent has nothing on Senator Palpatine, which sounds like a cross between a medical procedure and a high-end snack. And there is no doubt Palpatine is really George Lucas, who pretends to be an artist and a story teller, but is really an evil Sith lord scheming to conquer the universe through ...merchandising.

By Jaime Lord, April 9, 2008 at 10:39Nice job Mike. Now all I have to do is watch the movies and I can actually be a contender in your low-budget camcorder version of 'The Bachelor."
