I get to talk about what I think? This is GREAT! As most of you know, I am a Playboy supermodel, but better than that, I am somewhat smart. I have a few college degrees under my belt and was Pre-Law. I guess that doesn’t really make me smart, just accomplished ;)
One of my degrees happens to be in Political Science. I have always hated politics (for reasons I will disclose shortly), so I figured I would attempt to become more educated about what I hated so much, thereby giving me the right, so to speak, to argue my point.
Now you might be wondering, "What point?"
The point is, I DON’T VOTE!
AWWHHH! Stop the presses! She doesn't vote? How Un-American is that!?
Actually it's totally the opposite. As your NAKED REPORTER, I vow to give what I feel is THE NAKED TRUTH.
We as Americans democratically vote for our president, the person that will guide our country and its service men and women for the next four to eight years. We gain knowledge and decide who is suitable for that job through press coverage.
Every election is the same; this candidate did that, that candidate did this, and that one did an intern. WHO CARES! The world is not a perfect place and the candidates are not perfect people. Becoming president will not make them perfect, so why do we chastise them when they do what people do: make mistakes?
We often make choices based on how we have been raised and the influences of those around us in day to day living. What is right by one person’s standards is wrong by another’s, and so on and so forth. There's no point arguing about it.
My Playboy pictorial is a perfect case in point.

By coled1981, January 22, 2008 at 08:36Wow, your view on politics is pretty much the same as mine. I don't vote either, which is quite funny. Everyone at work gives me shit for it too, but I tell them that I don't feel that my vote counts because of the damn electoral college crap. I swear, California has 55 votes and Oregon has 7. If Candidate A blows Candidate B out of the water in Oregon, but Candidate B barely wins in California, who gets the votes? That would be Candidate B, 55-7. That's some major BS in my eyes.
Keep living the dream,
David

I agree with most of what you stated and do understan your position on not voting. But as a vet, I feel that every one should get out to vote.

By GRANDMASTUARD, January 14, 2008 at 15:13I agree, with you on most things, anyway, and I agree now. I wish more of our citizens would take the time to read the Declaration of Independance. We here in Iowa are so proud of you, keep up the good work, we're behind you 100%

The film "Why We Fight" aired on CBC's The Passionate Eye last night - for those of you who haven't seen it, it recalls a grave warning sent by Eisenhower as he left office; the Military Industrial Complex is well on it's way and if left to its own devices, will become a dangerous and powerful entity.
Well, it's here: War has been privatized and big money (private companies), Congress and the military are now as one. Not even a relatively peaceful President could keep the lines from blurring - Eisenhower saw it happening and was powerless to stop it. What does the American electoral system really mean? Not a whole lot anymore, if the people creating the business of war have no responsibility to the voting public.
There is no perfect voting system - here in Canada, we've been toying with the idea of ditching the "first-past-the-post" system in favour of "proportional representation", but neither system is perfect. Here, we have one question to ask ourselves: Do you vote for the person who will be representing your community, or the party you ultimately want to see in power? Tough choice if the person representing the party you want is a complete idiot and poor representative.
I don't blame you for not voting. I vote, but it feels more like a throwing a little piece of paper into the wind than playing a role in deciding my country's leadership.
I'd be curious to know where you stand on the US military and its ties to the war-making industry - I will assume you know that I mean no disrespect to soldiers - just questioning the motives of the higher-ups :)
