my struggle with selling my script

By padnar, October 12, 2007 at 23:08

Like every writer I want my work to be recognised and also earn money
in the bargain . Have I bitten mote than I can chew I dont know I am a writer
in Indian English and that does not have a say in the western world . In my country only regional
lanuages or Hindi rules the roost so I am neither here or there . This is the plight of every Indian writer writing in English .
My script is titled Finding my papaThe logline of the story is the protagonist is a girl who is in search of her biological
father. The mother impregnates herself with an olympic player so that
her country India will win the gold in the olympics
It is an emotional and patriotic story and is registered under WGA.
Synopsis

“Finding my papa" is a patriotic and emotional story. It is about a young girl Vijaya who is in search of her biological father. Her mother Jhansi impregnates herself with the sperms of n Olympian ,so that her country India wins the gold.

In this story we know the power of visualization and the subconscious mind. Vijaya after a race injured her legs. Even her doctor feared that she would not able to walk. She with the help of visualization and the motivation to see her come was able to overcome the injury and win the medal. I had modeled this character on an Olympian player.

From this story we also come to know that if we have strong convictions and strong belief in ourselves, than we can overcome any hurdles.

Generally the middle class people in India have strong moral values and will not take certain issues kindly. An unmarried pregnant woman was a great matter of shame for an Indian woman those days. But Jhansi inspite of knowing that she will be in disgrace gets herself pregnant while she studied in USA.

Jhansi is a patriotic woman, so much so that she defies conviction and impregnates herself with the sperm of an Olympian so that the genes of her father will help her child to win the gold. Though she loves her child she does not want to see her daughter, as she feels that it will motivate her daughter to win the gold.

She also named her daughter as Vijaya meaning a winner. It is scientifically researched that names has something to do with the character of the child. As she wanted her daughter to win the gold she named her as Vijaya.

Her love to her country is also known when she says to her friends that she intend to return to India and set an export company instead of going for a highly paid service job.

These two are the main characters in the story. The father character comes only in the end of the story.

I have used the flash back approach. In the first scene we see vijaya is crying as a young girl. She is upset that she does not know her parents. Than James the coach pacifies her and we are able to meet Jhansi.

Than the story goes behind about how Jhansi becomes a badminton player and how she loses a match. A journalist criticizes her and this acts as a turning point to the story.

When she reads about genes therapy she decides to undergo this therapy .

She goes to college to finish her MBA and how with the help of her friend Jane she undergoes this procedure.

She returns to India and with the help of Nalni she gives birth to Vijaya. She admits the toddler in a Residential sports training school, which has its main branch in US.

Later vijaya because of her talent as an athlete goes to US for her training .

Vijaya hurts herself during a race and she overcomes it and wins the medal.

She comes to India and meets her mother there. Later she goes to US to study and enjoy life as a student as most of her childhood is spent in training.

She meets Rahul there and both become friends. Later they both find her father.

i have posted about 100 e-mails but still I have not lost hope as I lose that than I lose everything
