Greg McMillan is a Canadian journalist who lived in the Dominican Republic for seven years.
Mr. McMillan spent time with all levels of this Spanish-speaking society, and returned to Canada to document and promote the popular vacation spot, showing all sides of daily life on the sultry island of Hispaniola that the Dominican Republic shares with Haiti. Prior to moving to the Dominican Republic in 1999, Mr. McMillan spent 10 years working at the Globe and Mail, in various capacities, including Art Director / Report on Business, Graphics Editor, Editor of Guide to Education, writer and copy/layout editor.
Before joining the Globe and Mail, Mr. McMillan worked at the Hamilton Spectator, where he held the following positions: Pop music critic, reporter/photographer, assistant sports editor, assistant district editor and copy/layout editor, He also maintained an independent marketing company, with clients including IBM Canada, Toronto Raptors, Compaq Canada, and Investors Group.
Mr. McMillan travelled to the Dominican Republic, originally to observe the culture and record a journal over a two-year period, with the intention of writing a book with photos based on his experiences.
With the birth of a daughter in the Dominican Republic, however, the original plan was altered.
In the course of his stay in the DR, Mr. McMillan purposely came into contact with people from all walks of life.
