Which Jackie Was It?

I used to know Jacqueline Murdock.

I felt some anxiety before court on the day Gina Alice Houston was called back to testify July 12th, 2007. I had heard during Casanova's testimony that Gina had taken a "Jackie" to the farm. The only question that came to mind was, which Jackie was it? I knew that my friend Jackie Murdock was naive and would have easily been led to the farm.

I was convinced it was the Jackie that I knew. I began talking with other media journalists about Gina, Dinah and Jackie, trying to figure out which Jackie the courts meant.

The journalists didn't think it was Jackie Murdock; they didn't even think she was on the missing women list. It wasn't until they showed me the poster of the missing girls again that I could point out to them that she was on the bottom row, third girl from the right. Usually uncertainty causes discomfort, but I felt better not knowing which Jackie it was that Casanova had mentioned earlier. For now, I still don't know.

During court I had an eye opener when Gina testified that Pickton's friend Dinah said to her, "I want to kill that bitch," referring to victim Andrea Joesbury, during a telephone conversation they had had some time ago in 2001. Apparently Dinah was fuming because Pickton had hired Andrea to clean his trailer. She did a spectacular job, resulting in a higher pay than what he had given Dinah.

Dinah wanted Gina to pick them up and take them to the farm, but Gina didn't have the car at the time. In trying to reason with Dinah, Gina suggested Andrea might have deserved it, since she did a great job.

Of course Dinah didn't agree and repeated that she wanted to "kill the bitch" and again asked Gina to take her to the farm. There was time to spare, since Pickton wasn't at the farm and Gina was waiting for her boyfriend Rosco to return the car, so she invited her over for tea instead. Dinah was still too furious to accept.

Almost in tears during her testimony, Gina said she didn't think that Dinah was capable of such a thing.
