Like all the millions of Harry Potter fans, I have recently been caught up in Pottermania and just saw the latest Potter movie.
I had really enjoyed The Order of the Phoenix book because it explored Harry's dark side more and he seemed more like a realistic teenager - moody, secretive, sure no one understands him, et cetera. I also thought the connection between him and Neville was interesting, but the movie did not really go into it much.
The movie had the same great acting, by all characters, and I especially loved how Dolores Umbridge was portrayed. She was equally annoying in the movie as she was in the book. This was such an in-depth book, that they had to edit a lot out for the movie.
I found it disappointing that they took so much out and even changed some details, which they had not done in previous movies. They could have easily made it three hours without losing the crowd's interest and added more scenes to the conflict in the Deptartment of Mysteries (I had been looking forward to seeing some of those strange rooms that they entered - especially the room about Time), as well as get the details right about the D.A. (Dumbledore's Army).
I won't give any spoilers on that here. All in all, if you have not read the book, you will definitely not be disappointed by anything. It has all the magic - and even a little romance - and strange creatures that you would expect from a Potter movie. Just a bit too edited for me - but I know I will still buy it when it comes out on DVD.
