Quickest court day in history, well this court's history anyways....

Today we heard from an officer who pulled over Lynn Ellingsen and Pickton on March the 20,1999. Before I tell you about her I will relay some other information we got today.

The end of this trial is in sight. The judge told the jury today that this trial will not last a year as they had been told. In fact, it will be over before Christmas; the Crown's case has three or four days to go next week, and the after the summer break, the Crown will present for another week at most.

As the judge told the jury, he "had arraigned for the best possible summer weather." The court would not sit tomorrow but will return on Thursday...Which causes me to pause and take great care in what I say here: the fact that the Crown is resting it's case causes me great anxiety.

In my mind, the evidence cannot yet be linked all together and cannot tell us for certain what happened to these women. There still is time though, and the case is not yet over, so who knows what is still to happen.

The officer on the stand today was Corporal Jenifer Hyland nee Fraser. She pulled Pickton and Ellingsen over on March 20, 1999. The reason she gave for pulling over the pair was when she started her shift, she went to 12th Ave and Columbia, as she did every night to check in and see who was working the area for it is known as a stroll. She noticed a small sized pick up going up the hill on 12th.

I have to say my stomach became a little queasy, for it is in fact this hill I travel everyday to go to court.
