Pickton Trial

Will Defence Discredit Lynn Ellingsen?

Was Lynn really too high to be credible?

In spite of all that insanity, I don't buy defence's argument that Ellingsen was too high to remember seeing what she testified she saw: A woman hanging from a hook. I've been off drugs and alcohol for some time now, and I can remember everything.. '

Will defence be able to discredit Ms. Ellingsen? It's possible, due to her track record of drugs and alcohol and how baffled she's getting under cross-examination. I really think Crown better pull up their socks and get busy doing their job a little better or Pickton might be added to the list of criminals whose case will only enter the law books for posterity and receive a slap on the back of his hand for his alleged crimes.

It took a while to get the drugs and alcohol out of my system. I'm sure it will be the same for Ellingsen, being a chronic alcoholic/drug addict. It takes time and practice to get the cobwebs out of your head and functioning normally. Alcohol gives you a wet brain and lubricates your mind. You become dysfunctional when all you do is drink and be merry and pass out until the next day when you start all over again. Some become violent and others get insane ideas in their head and proceed to be irrational.

Ellingsen told the courts her drug of choice is cocaine. I know that with my chronic use of crack and cocaine, I did nothing but sit around and waste away in the back room of my two-bedroom house at 14th and Fraser. If I wasn't smoking it, I was injecting it, which is just as harsh. I never called it cocaine; I called it either 'dummy dust' or 'more.' Preferably dummy dust, because you do become insanely stupid on the stuff. You think you're invincible.

As Ellingsen said in court, she isolated herself to her room for days, even weeks. You lose track of time and days. When I was on a binge, I'd use for weeks at a time with no sleep or eating. I can remember staying up so long that one day my body had enough and I collapsed into a sleep for two days. The only food I would have would be a chocolate bar once a week if I was lucky. I was 98 lbs soaking wet. My husband (present) used to say I'd have to run around in the rain to get wet, I was so skinny.

So I think it's possible for defence to discredit Ms. Ellingsen.
