One of Pickton's women, Gina Houston, testifying this week.

As you probably noticed, I haven't been writing much these days. Court had been slow, repetitive, and at times, it was hard to stay awake. However, now it's picking up with the testimony of Gina Houston. During court, I've been sitting behind Robert Pickton, observing him and listening to all the evidence from professional witnesses. To me, he doesn't look like a lady's man with his hair greased down and plaid shirts, but when you work and feed your addiction down on Hastings Street, looks don't matter much. The only thing you worry about is that next fix. So, I guess it's possible Pickton had some women. Go figure.

I know from experience that working the streets and dealing with hundreds of men, you learn to ignore your true feelings. You imagine yourself somewhere else and put on an act to get "it" over with quickly...so you can get high and forget about everything around you. The shame you feel after you're done pleasing someone you don't care for is enough to make you need a fix.

With drugs involved, it isn't hard to imagine how one would go off the deep end and go on a killing spree. Cocaine, crack and heroin really mess up your train of thought and it's not hard to turn into someone you're not. As I've mentioned before, in my story 'Monster,' it was getting easier and easier to hurt people because I was so numb and full of rage.

Gina and Dinah, two of Willie's women, are examples of what you turn into after and extensive use of drugs. I've dealt with the girls on Hastings Street, and they don't care about anything. That's all part of the game of survival. I can recall a time when I was partying and I said something in Spanish to one of the girls, and I ended up black and blue. I don't have a clue how I made it home, but when my husband woke me up, he was horrified.

I also remember acting like the tough guy and making sure that people knew not to mess with me. Like I said, after years of drug abuse, you just don't care anymore. I've been thinking of all the women that ended up visiting the Pickton farm, and I know that the only reason one would go there is for the party - for the fix.
