Meet Miss Britt.

I'm up for Hottest Mommy Blogger and The Blogitzer awards. If I win Hottest Mommy Blogger, I'm probably going to go ahead and buy that mini skirt. '

I've been writing since I could hold a crayon to paper. Seriously. I've always written. When I was in high school my bedroom walls were lined with prose and poems that I secretly wanted my parents to read... and desperately hoped that they wouldn't. I've just always written. But in March of 2006, I started writing consistently when I started blogging. I've written nearly every day - at least five days a week - for over a year now. I must be doing something right, because I've been nominated for the Bloggers Choice Awards in two categories: Hottest Mommy Blogger and the Blogitzer.

Why do I blog? I think if I could answer this question, my husband and I would get along better. The truth is, there are millions of reasons that bloggers blog. I started because I had seen other blogs, other writers, and I was driven by the compulsion of being able to do "that, only better."

I continued to blog because the feedback was, and is, addictive. To put your thoughts out into the world and have people - even strangers - lap it up... it's a rush. It's like performing on a stage, without the diet restrictions. And ever since I can remember, I wanted to be famous. I wanted people to know me - to know of me. The blogosphere is a tiny little way for me to live that dream on a daily basis. I don't think that's why most people blog. Most people care more about human connections than notoriety.

In a way, blogging provides a sense of self because you get constant feedback. But my blog is a very skewed lens because only people who LIKE me hang out there. People who think you are annoying and shallow and bitchy don't show up to read you day after day. If they did, I would be OK with that - but they don't.

I think you have to keep that in perspective - that, for the most part, you're only hearing from the "fans" and perhaps the "haters" would have a few valid points if they bothered to stop by... but everyone needs a little fan mail in their life from time to time.

Blogging is one of the few things in my life that is all about me. All me. All the time. It's indulgent in a life that can be severely lacking of indulgences.

Britt is one of my favorite

Britt is one of my favorite bloggers, and not because she's hot. I didn't even know what she looked like before I fell in love with her writing and personality, which shines through wonderfully. And while she might not be quite as wonderful as I am, she's a close second.
