A religious awakening which does not awaken the sleeper to love has roused him in vain '

This is my conversion story from the beginnings of faith in my heart, to lending that faith to others. Also this is when I met the love of my life and a dear friend. Life is always changing, and I have the beating heart of compassion in my chest that burns alive every time I reread this

I am certain that nothing in the last few months could have happened without someone else helping me along the way. Indirectly my religious experiences of the past semester began last year when my parents told my sister and me the news. My parents are in the process of a divorce, currently separated and living apart. I don’t have the pleasure of hearing my Dad leave early for work anymore, or my Mom calling to ask if I could go into the garage to ask him something because the noise out there prevented him from hearing his cell phone. I had signed up for another semester of classes and religious studies was one of the classes I was looking forward to taking. Over dinner with my Dad he told me about how he traveled when he was my age, he was looking for the truth and for himself in the world. He wondered if I was being too sheltered by living in the same place and never venturing out. The first day of religious studies class we learned that our final essay would be to write about how we will explore a religion not of our own and investigate the church. So I was inspired to get my investigation progressing as soon as possible by investigating a church and maybe along the way I would find a part of myself that was there all along.

After learning of my final assignment and feeling inspired to do just as it asked I sailed along to my last class of the day.
