Matt Loses ½ Inch Of Thumb And A Shot With Chef

Chef Gordon Ramsay, Hell's Kitchen

Chef recognized my potential.

We had a Hell’s Kitchen watching party last night. It was actually kind of fun. I was laughing during the whole episode. I gotta be positive - 22,000 people showed up to a casting call for this show, and 15 of us made it. I accomplished something many people are afraid to even try.

I think Chef Ramsay realized my potential and my passion. That’s what kept me hanging on so long. To tell you the truth, if I would have fought a little more when I was up for elimination, I think Ramsay would have decided to keep me there.

I had such a bad migraine, I couldn’t really think and say what I wanted to say. Ramsay told me to go out there and fight to stay alive, but I kind of gave up at that moment.

I accomplished what I needed to on Hell’s Kitchen; I made it to the final six, I had some great times, and I guess that was it.

The Best Risotto Ever In Hell’s Kitchen

Chef said I made the best risotto he’d ever tasted in Hell’s Kitchen. Oh my God, that felt so great to hear that. He is very tough on people with risotto. It’s one dish that he feels people can’t duplicate all the time. It’s always the easiest dishes that we professional chefs mess up the most. That comment meant more to me than anything. I was in seventh heaven.

The Lowest Moment

I guess the lowest moment was being eliminated. Although all this positive came from it, I would have liked to see another person go before me.

Losing part of my finger wasn’t fun either. It’s not fully grown back, nor will it ever, but I’m living and still working. A lot of people thought I just cut a little piece off, but no…I cut about half an inch of my thumb off.

Gordon Ramsay said it was the worst cut he’d ever seen in his life.

I'm still laughing over giving the God of Hell's Kitchen the tip of his thumb.

That gave me a chuckle too...All in all I found Matt to have a really good attitude about the whole thing, saying that the whole experience was a dream come true. He genuinely seems to have just enjoyed the bumpy ride. :)
