There are many of us who are alive today and who continue to live with the legacy of the Holocaust, which killed millions of people including our own relatives whom we will never meet and get to know and love. Every now and then I encounter a 'survivor,' someone who had lived in the camps such as Bergen Belson and Auschwitz and who has witnessed horrors beyond horrors.
I might be in my local synagogue and I'll catch a glimpse of their tattooed set of numbers as they reach to grab a prayer book or shake hands with the rabbi. I know that they're a survivor just by seeing this mark, and while their tattoos may be hidden under their sleeves, their experiences never leave them.
Whenever I hear or read about individuals or goverment leaders who accuse that the Holocaust was a hoax or a complete fabrication, I can only wonder how is it even logical to make such an accusation? Recently, Iran hosted a conference on Holocaust denial, demonstrating many people are still making that claim. But let's take a logical look at the accusation.
How could six million jews, one million gypsies (or Rom, as they preferred to be called), just 'disappear' for over 60 years without having been discovered all this time? Where did all those murdered people go?
For example, in Vancouver, British Columbia, over 60 women who worked as prostitutes went missing, and a man named Robert Pickton is preparing to be tried in court for the murder of over 20 of these same women. While it took some time, police finally realized that a serial killer was preying on these women who worked the streets every night.
