Okay, if anyone understands what it is like to have your personal life jumped on and spread about the Internet it would be me, but hey, like many of you have said, “I asked for it,” right? But, did Miley?
This is ridiculous; every time we get a young pop star role model, we make a mockery of her: Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and many others. No wonder these young girls are turning crazy, going into hospitals, doing drugs and shaving their heads…we do it to them!
One person on the Internet said, “Little kids look up to Miley; these pictures could end her career. Miley is not a good role model. Disney should fire her.” WHAT?! The person that wrote this is an IDIOT! If she was a normal kid, would she have been thrown all over the Internet in disgust?
Some say she asked for the backlash and if she is going to be famous, then she shouldn’t do risky stuff…Bull crap! For the most part she is in a swimsuit or nightclothes trying to be “cute.” What's so risky?
We all were young once, and some of us wish we could go back. We all did silly things, regardless of being famous or not! For crying out loud, this young lady is just having fun, and who the hell are we to make this a "scandal?"
She is 15 years old for crying out loud…let her be 15! How disgusting that people want to cry "photo scandal" involving a 15-year-old! There is seriously something wrong with this picture, and it is not Miley!
There are several accusations that she is a “slut.” What is this, a high school jealousy rampage?

By Bud Oracle (not verified), May 12, 2008 at 18:13"The adult type photographs of Miley Cyrus is taking something from all those children."
This is your judgment. It could have been a simple starting point for a discussion which will help alleviate the dangerous naivety of your youth. It is not in their best interest to believe that they aren't developing into normal young sexual creatures. You wish to keep them dumb. Making children intelligent isn't depriving them of anything.
"Futher more you were not a icon to millions of children."
This statement is the crux of the problem not Miley's photos. Your thought pattern is suspect here. If you don't want you kids exposed to the normal human behavior of their icons then you should see to it not to promote the worship of icons. Trying to control Miley's behavior to perform to your mental contortions, is not reasonable.
"I would never take a photograph of a 15 year old to emply sexual content. When Miley Cyrus turns 18 and can make her own choice then she do what she wants."
Yeah, really? Maybe that's WHY YOU ARE NOT MAKING THE BIG BUCKS DOING PHOTOS FOR THE STAR MAKER/ ICON MAKER MACHINE. Mileys parents and agents were there, and were hoping to make more MONEY with a bit of riske photography.
John Humes, all we have here is your judgment. First off it makes no sense to blame the Photographer for not meeting your criteria. She was doing her job, in the broadest sense, meeting Miley's and her management's wishes, not yours.
Besides your sense of what's proper doesn't rule today's world. Stick to making your own family's moral rules and don't encourage iconism, idol worship. This more then anything you do to hide the world from them will keep them safe.

By John Humes, May 12, 2008 at 18:44Well Bud, my guess is that you dissagree with all. If you recall in my comment that I stated that I agree with most of what was said.
Now as for the big bucks. I am retired, I own my home free and clear together with my auto and pick up truck. I also have money in the bankl. So I do not need the big bucks.
I have admired Libowitz for a very long time. I just think she crossed the line on this shoot. Yes, her Dad was present earlier in the shoot but he claims he wass not present for the photo in question. Why would he do that? hummmmmmm Maybe a little bit ashamed.
Too bad you don't like my sense of what is proper. Frankly, I don't care.
John

That's what I'm trying to tell you John; not to guess----better to be sure, not wishy-washy. When You guess like that, you tend to get it wrong at least half the time, or more. No John, you don't like my words because they show yours up to be those of a small minded Christian who wants to project his judgments onto Miley, onto me.(That's my judgment John from your words)
"Now as for the big bucks. I am retired, I own my home free and clear together with my auto and pick up truck. I also have money in the bankl. So I do not need the big bucks."
John you missed the point. It's not about how much you make it is how much they are making turning Miley into an Icon. I meant that you aren't in their league so don't judge them with your motives
"Yes, her Dad was present earlier in the shoot but he claims he wass not present for the photo in question. Why would he do that? hummmmmmm Maybe a little bit ashamed."
When people make such vapid statements John, I'll snare them with their own words. It's so much fun and a real service to dispel stupidity driven by judgmental thinking which got the world into this mess. I will always disagree with idiocy when I see it. Strongly, succinctly, and relentlessly.
I've had enough of a world lead by moronic thinking. You take liberties with rational thinking to paint such a judgment "but he claims he wass not present for the photo in question. Why would he do that? hummmmmmm Maybe a little bit ashamed.""
I'll not let such moronic logic stand as a valid opinion when I know its worth less than a burp after drinking a Pepsi. And try using my words and dissecting them as to what you feel isn't valid, rather than insulting me personally "Well Bud, my guess is that you dissagree with all.". Insult the logic of my words as I do yours, otherwise you'll look stupid.

This time you showed your true colors with the statement "small minded Christian".

By Bud Oracle (not verified), May 13, 2008 at 05:27John I've showed my true colors all along. I'm intelligent and you don't know how to make an intelligent argument. Your words give me an insight as to what drives them. They are unsupported judgment asure sign of a believer. I notice that you never disagreed with me but accused me of showing my true colors-an cryptic statement of nonsense. I told you that you would look silly unless you could respond to my words and you do. So I will disengage now and leave you to your small mindedness and god. You have no intelligent responses or words only moronic statements.. The same stuff coming from your christian president, a destroyer of peace and life. .
Re: The Naked Reporter Defends Miley Cyrus
By luyen, May 13, 2008 at 08:31I don't think this kind of discussion is very productive - if debating and argumentation only leads to positions of right and wrong, i am correct and you are correct, I get the feeling there's actually more dissension and conflict in the end, even though a logical point may have been proven.
Isn't it better to discuss with respect, and reconcile if harsh words are used involuntarily?
Re: The Naked Reporter Defends Miley Cyrus
By Bud Oracle (not verified), May 13, 2008 at 09:11I use reason and show his words to be those of someone who is challenged in that area. I will not allow idiocy to stand with the same weight as rational judgment. There is a right and wrong to things, and your attitude has led to those with small minds, who don't operate using reason, to gain control of the power of America. Your wishy-washy thinking has, and will, lead to more rule by the morons. More violence and idiocy. Not everything uttered has value. It is dangerous when tens of millions get to thinking their nonsense makes sense. It is not valid argument to project your feelings onto someone else and then use this as an "observation" of their actions and "deduce" the reasons for them. John wanted to assert his judgment and then use it to support itself. It is very important never to give lunacy an edge into the rational world. Take a LOOK AT "CREATIONISM" or should that be "Cretinism"
Re: The Naked Reporter Defends Miley Cyrus
By Bud Oracle (not verified), May 13, 2008 at 11:01What this kind of masturbatory reasoning then leads to is judgmental people like John thinking it their duty to oppress others because they smoke Cannabis. They casually call them stupid with conviction supplied by their pastors. Moronic reasoning leads to human misery through oppression, always has and always will.
I'm trying to show the world that the facts are different than the believers believe them to be, by writing these posts. Chronic Marijuana use doesn't make you as stupid as religious belief does. I'll let my words stand without retraction as the proof of that statement. I'm tired this kind of nonsense holding sway over me. This is what I know to be true and is as valid as any other belief system, especially as I see no one able to challenge my words on their merit, without insulting me personally. http://live.orato.com/current-events/2008/04/29/personal-tribute-albert-...
I haven't gotten over The "Honorable" Anne McLellan calling me, a pot smoker, stupid, on a national Radio program in March 2005. http://www.orato.com/podium/2008/04/24/e-mail-can-change-world
The eradication of entrenched idiocy is my hobby in life now spurred on by my leader's insults. The sum of my personal experiences (including chronic Marijuana use) has given me much insight, as well as the ability to observe and accurately evaluate something quickly. Too often there are many stupid posts standing up there with rational ones, which might give young minds who don't have the ability to discern the truth from hogwash, some bad thinking habits. This error path in logic is potentially much more dangerous than the normal ideas they might get from a photo of Miley's shoulder. It is very dangerous to give this kind of reasoning any credence.
It's the subtle things in life that you must pay attention to. Being aware is a constant challenge. Not many who go around spouting moronic propaganda based on religious belief are self-aware, yet they sure are loud and hold sway with the government of Stephen Harper, GWB. they want their belief system like Creationism to be installed into science programs. This is total lunacy which will lead to the Armageddon which they seek.
Re: The Naked Reporter Defends Miley Cyrus
By John Humes, May 12, 2008 at 17:44I would like to say that I agree with comments posted to date. However I would like to add a few thoughts.
Miley Cyrus is adored by millons of children around the world, but as Hanna Montana. The adult type photographs of Miley Cyrus is taking something from all those children.
For those of you who said that you had taken adult type photos when you were children did so for your own needs and not for publication. Futher more you were not a icon to millions of children.
I am now a retired photographer that has photographed many females for portfolios and their men. I would never take a photograph of a 15 year old to emply sexual content. When Miley Cyrus turns 18 and can make her own choice then she do what she wants.
The photographer has control of the shoot and Annie Libowitz knew exactly what she was doing. So why are so many down on Miley Cyrus?
Yes, I too watch the Hanna Montana show and have attended one live show. She is so talented. I belive better then Brit.

By grandmaandmom, May 2, 2008 at 20:23Surely all this controversy is not about the picture of Miley Cyrus in your article. That picture is of a young girl, trying to look so grown up. And as old as I am, back in our childhood days we did very much the same thing. I can remember holding my Aunt's (one piece) bathing garment up to my naked body and she took a picture of me, trying to look good. In these day and times I have taken a photo of my young great-grandchild and her girl friend trying to be sexpots of the day by sticking balloons under their cut off tops, we all laughed lot that day, but at no time did anyone ever think it was a scandalous act. Come on people, we have so much more important matters to be concerned about, that this whole idea of exsposing a child to this type of hype, is a total waste of energy. Wake up people, see things for what they really are, do not put your own vile thoughts to every thing you see. P.S. like what you did with your pic: give them something to think about, YOU GO GIRL!!!! Who's the good looking guy behind you???

Re: The Naked Reporter Defends Miley Cyrus
By Heather Wallace, May 2, 2008 at 11:55I love this picture and don't understand why it's considered scandalous. It's exactly what you'd expect from an Annie Leibovitz photo shoot: Gorgeous portrait.
I think she looks even less provocative in this photo than in some of her Hannah Montana mini-skirts, although I always find her to be a classy girl.
If Disney can't handle its young stars growing up before our eyes and being seen in an increasingly sexual light, they should stop hiring such beautiful young ladies. I think Disney is hypocritical if it calls itself a squeaky clean outfit. It sells sex as much as the next guy; it's just less honest about it.
It sounds like after PR was through with her, Miley was bullied into saying she felt exploited.

Re: The Naked Reporter Defends Miley Cyrus
By luyen, May 2, 2008 at 10:30I really like Miley Cyrus, more specifically I like her show, my niece loves to watch it (she's 10)...and I think she's a good role model for other kids, because kids do imitate her. I'm saddened however that she's been thrust into the spotlight this way, I think for a 15 year old, she's had to grow up way too fast, like the Spears sisters. She's not a woman, nor should she pose seductively without knowing what the consequences are - and that is people will judge her because of that photo, and it *will* be mis-interpreted by people who like and dislike her.
What was the purpose of taking that photo for Miley? I don't know - but I think her parents should have erred on the side of caution, knowing all too well what has happened to other teen idols.
While it's great to say we should celebrate this artistic photo and empower her, the reality is not everyone will see it that way, if you're 25 or 30 then you can handle it, but she's 15...and we ALL know between 15 and 30, you are a TOTALLY different person in maturity, she really needs to be well surrounded, and I hope her entourage can do that.

By Bud Oracle (not verified), May 1, 2008 at 17:06Michelle Manhart, I argree with you foolheartedly. The situation here is the fact that this perversion is in the eyes of the beholders.
That is why I have named our species "The Fraudulent Apes"
We are magnificent at projecting lies onto others, perpetrating grand lies and quick to judge, all the while claiming religious righteousness.
You'll find the worst sort are here sending their compassionless hate forth with little concern for reality.
I have asked why this picture is so riske, with no satisfactory answer.
I can't see anything but a pretty young girl trying on an adult pose, like she might try on her mother's sexy dress.
These are the people who have earned the right too cast the first stones every time, by virtue of the fact that they have a cyber-stone casting-tool handy.
