It’s always a surprise to get eliminated. In hindsight, even though you always think you didn’t live up to your full potential and you could have done better, our Blue Team was failing in all aspects. Anybody could have been on the chopping block that first night.
How I Got Myself Into Hell
Having never having seen an episode of Hell’s Kitchen until last night’s premier, I didn't know exactly what was in store for me. I had plenty of friends who were Hell’s Kitchen fans, and they told me there was an open casting call and that I should apply for it.
My wife gave me the application. I filled it out, but when it came down to the casting call I had just picked up my child from dance class and I thought, I don’t want to run my family up there and wait in line. I wasn’t going to do it.
My wife came home early and said, “Grab that application, let’s load up the kids…I’m taking you up there.” My friends and family all thought that I had great talent and that I cook wonderfully.
I’m very creative in the kitchen and my passion for food has never stopped. I love to teach people how to cook and I love to cook. It just so happens that what Chef Ramsay saw in the kitchen wasn’t executive chef material.
First Impressions Of The Iron Chef
When I first saw Gordon Ramsay it was when he was in disguise as Terence. Believe me, I didn’t know it was him. He surprised us all! I thought, ‘This guy’s got a sense of humor.’ I was loving it.
Then we got in the kitchen and I saw the real Chef Ramsay and the way he runs his kitchen.

Re: Hell’s Kitchen: Stay-At-Home Dad Dominic Chopped!
By chef boy o boy, May 6, 2008 at 06:20Dear Heather,
First off let me just thank you for such a great article about the first
contestant eliminated from Season 4 of Hell's Kitchen. It touched me by
the way the article read and it enlighten my spirits. Reality TV is NO
JOKE, it is for real and it does find its way into ones subconscious.
Those auditioning for a Reality Series have no idea the impact it will
make on their lives. Hell's Kitchen is not about cooking as much as it is
about SURVIVING.
As one anticipates the airing of a new series they are usually very
concerned about how they will be portrayed to America. But after the
airing they find themselves more concerned with dealing with the feelings
that still linger within.
But after reading your piece on Dominic's departure I could see that you
really captured the person inside the REALITY CHARACTER that was portrayed
to all of America.
I will continue to read your follow-up articles as the season continues
and can only hope that others, through your pages, can see that Reality TV
is REAL in more ways than ONE.
Thanks, CBOB
p.s. I checked out the link you included and Chef Dominic definitely is an
OK guy who can obviously cook, just not Hell's Kitchen Material.

By Robyn Stubbs, April 3, 2008 at 07:35Dominic - it sucks that you went home and the guy who sat there smoking a cigarette while the restaurant was opening its doors for the first time got to stay on and live another on HK. I totally understand that you're happy to be out of Hell, but I don't think you should have been the one to go :)
