FIGHTBACK STUNS MILAN
Poor Carlo Ancelotti has not had much fun this season, with Milan floundering in Serie A and dumped out of the Champions League at home by Arsenal this month, and things don't seem to be improving much. Hunting down a crucial Champions League place, they travelled to Roma this weekend knowing that victory was essential, but despite playing well for most of the match and taking the lead through Kaka, they still ended up with nothing.
The Brazilian star scored in the 56th minute and Milan looked like they could be on their way to a massively-important win, but two goals in three minutes from Ludovic Giuly and Mirko Vucinic meant that the home side went 2-1 with nine minutes to go and held on to take all three points. If anything, that Milan had played so well only made it more painful for Ancelotti that they had lost again: "There is a great deal of regret over this loss. At times there are deserved defeats, others less so," he said.
"The Giallorossi made the most of our late distractions and won a game where the right result would have been a draw or even something more for us. We played very well and unfortunately have dropped points. In all honesty, I didn't expect us to do so well tonight, as we were in control, took the lead and tried to extend our advantage. I really cannot complain about the standard of football, but we still lost. Never mind, that is football.
