Nothin' beats a week in Hawaii after a long, cold and dreary winter in Vancouver. The best part about taking off to a tropical island at the end of February is that spring feels like it's full swing when you get home. For one blissful week, Stephen (the husband) and I hiked, snorkeled and surfed across the small Hawaiian island of Kauai. We also drove a fair bit in our rented convertible, with the iPod on shuffle and the wind in our hair. We were so busy not worrying about anything (it's actually against the law to bring your worries to Kauai) that we nearly forgot we had a camera with us! So here's what we managed to snap between dips in the ocean, reading sessions on the beach and trips in the car with the top down - it's not much, except maybe a nice distraction from the office and an invitation to daydream, Hawaiian-style.

Nature is breathtaking there.

I've done my share, and it really really recharges you...a month or so, until it gets hotter and sunnier, can't wait!

By Robyn Stubbs, March 4, 2008 at 12:00I personally find January/February really tough - this February wasn't so bad weather-wise, but generally, the earlier darkness falls, the harder time I have. I know our winters are nothing like the Prairies' winters with -40 temperatures, but I think I'd prefer crisp weather and snow over the chilly drizzly rain that plagues this city in winter months.
But really, I love Hawaii :)

I hear you. The damp/cold is not a recipe for good times.
As a side note/question - why are girls always cold (even indoors)?
