Deborah studied acting in college and continued this training thru workshops and acting coaches to better hone her new craft. Creating the look and sound are two of the techniques needed in developing each character - each one, in Deborah's case, quite extremely different. Examples are Trinity's sci-fi-ish character, Betty Lou Who's and Mary Katherine Gallagher's comedic, Audrey Hepburn's classic, not to forget the evil Queen of Narnia, and there are more.
Her most popular look seems to be that of "Trinity." Deborah's Trinity has won awards in the U.S. and in Ontario, Canada, appeared on ABC's The Next Best Thing, and she has traveled all over attending and showcasing at lookalike conventions, a sci-fi convention as well as working gigs as different characters, especially as Trinity whose wardrobe consists of many outfits, but ALL consist of black shiny vinyl.
Promoting herself has been a challenge but one Deborah enjoys. She has been an actress almost two decades and a lookalike for only four of those years, but she is learning how to represent herself and her characters quite well, especially with the help, sometimes, from an entourage of professionals who make it all possible, such as a webmaster, publicist, agents, promotional materials, acting/exercise coaches, photographers and costume designer - all of which most actors and tribute artists will tell you are essential in this business.
One can view her site, www.deborahsmithford.com, to see the different areas she has been active in lately. When she is not Trinity, Deborah enjoys working in films, and she's the first to say that being Trinity has helped open many doors. Getting a national commerical spot as well as being cast for a variety of films, lately several independent ones, has proved to be fruitful.
