A Family's Mystery Is A Family's Pain

As a mother and grandmother, I can't imagine what the families are going through.

I can’t express in words how I feel when I’m amongst the families of the missing women. However, I feel I am doing something for those who have family members missing by being at court day in and day out.

I’ve introduced myself to most of the families and have found many are there with a little hope that the mystery of their loved one's disappearance/murder will be solved here in court.

I have talked with a few whose daughters have been missing for some time now and nothing has been found to inform them whether or not they are dead. As a mother, I can’t imagine what they’re going through and how they seem to be handling this so well. They have much support from the Victim Assistant Services, but that only covers fees and provides a friendly, yet stranger's, face of support.

Not long ago my 21-year-old old son went missing for about a month, and I was depressed and anxious to find him. I was probably annoying people by calling around in my effort to find him. I was so upset I had to get sleeping pills from my doctor because I had so many things going through my mind.

Where is he? Is he still alive or did he run into trouble? Did he get into drugs and overdose? Did he get in with the wrong crowd? The fear of the unknown took over and made me want to turn this planet upside down until I found him.

So for these families that haven’t found their loved ones, my heart goes out to you. I wish there was something that we could do to help find them, but it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. I can see the pain and sorrow and feel the sadness they feel inside.

Then you have the families of Georgina Papin, Marnie Frey, Sarah DeVries, to name a few, who are anxiously waiting for a verdict so they can have some closure.
