Leaving A Light On For The Coreys

The Dream Team.

Gone were the wavy blond locks, the mischievous grin, blue sparkling eyes. All I could see was a bloated older version of my Corey. '

Many people would consider the 1980s as the Golden Era of teenage movies. It was during the decade of neon socks and Michael Jackson that two Coreys entered the collective conscience of popular culture: Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. One citizen correspondent, who happens to share their name, asks the obvious question: Where did they go, and will they ever return to their initial glory? Well, thanks to A&E, The Two Coreys are about to leave their indelible mark on a brand new generation, and may even answer Corey Podell's question.

Yesterday, as I was perusing through my usual celebrity gossip websites in hopes of avoiding any productive work, I came across a blurb that stopped me dead in my tracks. Sure, I've heard the rumors, but here it was in actual print. I know gossip sites aren't the most reliable sources, but it is true. The Coreys are going to be starring in a reality show together. And by "The Coreys," I am of course referring to Corey Feldman and Corey Haim - the 80s teen icons and dreamboats and who I believe, and have ALWAYS believed, were the most underrated actors of their generation.

My heart skipped a beat as my memories of my Coreys came flooding back. I mean all that stuff printed on gossip websites has to be true, right?

I took a look at the grainy old picture of The Corey's, a movie still from License to Drive, Haim with his light hair and piercing blue eyes, a mischievous grin on his face. To his right is Feldman striking a smoldering pose, dark mullet held in place by a red sweatband, a tiny cross hanging from his left ear. Feldman was always the bad ass. What a pair these two made.

To this day, I vascillate between the two. Some days I like Feldman more, with his witty charm and rebellious nature. Yet Haim's All-American goodness with an edge has always appealed to my sensibilities. I guess it just depends on my mood. When I took an unscientific poll of ten friends, Feldman beat out Haim by six to three. The tenth vote, from my friend Dan went like this:

ME: "Which Corey is your favorite, Feldman or Haim?"

DAN: "Easy: Feldman cause he used to be fat.
