It's 11:47, I'm sitting at the corner cafe across the road from my house, sipping on an iced Coke watching people rushing by. Hundreds of speeding cars on their daily roads somewhere. The thick glass window keeping the sound away so that I only see the blurring motion, and for a moment it feels that it's me, not them, that's moving. That Commodores song "Easy (Like Sunday Morning)" came on the sh*tty speakers, and half way through the chorus I think to myself, 'Who the hell is easy like Sunday morning?!'

We all are, right? 'Course we are, everyone is, until someone gets close enough, to care enough, so that it affects our sense of control of our own happiness, at which point one becomes: AFRAID, DEFENSIVE and PARANOID!

I am no exception of course, but I try to keep this in mind while trying to see the other clearly as they get close enough to affect my sense of happiness. Doesn't always work though. But hey, think about it - we have to make it work! Otherwise, we'll never be close enough to anyone to really know what love is. Have you ever been part of a beautiful love story? I have, only once...and it has given me faith that's driven me for years, but it should, wish it would, happen again, soon.

It's been quite a while now since I felt that close to someone without being terrified at the same time. And even though I realize what I need in order to not panic in the midst of what could be a great relationship, there's a catch; I need to be relaxed enough for her to open up in the first place, and her openness is what relaxes me, but I can't relax in the first place if she doesn't show that openness! And who's gonna make the first resounding stable step?

Its like calling a cease fire; each of us is guarded not because we want to be cold, but because we're afraid to get hurt again. But to have happiness you have to share something personal, to experience a connection we need to open up a part of ourselves to connect to. Of course, one needs to find the right person to open up to.
