Johnathan Adler cited "fashion" as one of his main inspirations in the latest issue of Style at Home. Myrtel Beach local Julie, of Knotting Hill Interiors reported on the interior design blog Belle Maison that her latest office design was inspired by a colorful dress seen on the February cover of French Vogue. Fashion giant Versace takes on the interior design market.

and recent interior design graduate Sarah Vandenelson expressed "interior design and fashion are one in the same, creativity influences color and texture, much like an outfit everything in your space has to work together."

Fashion giant Versace has been creating beautiful works of art for your home since 1992. In Versace premier of its 2011 Home Collection, a number of his fashion inspirations were seen in the decadent pieces of furniture.

The Interior Holic online review says, "The upholstery in furniture is very rich in colors and textures, patterns and prints. Radiating blue floral sofa with metallic legs and casing is a great combination of modern edge and Versace classic style."

Not all interior collections are or need to be inspired by "high fashion." Accesible retailers like H&M and Urban Outfitters, which are known for their trendy fashions, have found a way to introduce style into your home at an affordable price.

"Funky, 70s-inspired home accessories, like colorful shag area rugs and Asian-themed printed throw pillows, along with kitschy housewares and gifts like mod cocktail-shakers, martini glasses, and fondue sets, are Urban Outfitters staples" according to the NY Mag review for Urban Outfitters.

Prabal Gurung's Latest Collection

Pulling inspiration from fashion has no limits, it can be as simple as a color scheme or a pattern. Focusing on a common palette, like black and white, as seen on the runway in Prabal Gurung's latest collection, can easily be translated to your home.

Palettes can translate to paint, wallpaper, the finish of furniture, fabric and accent pieces. Smaller details in fashion, like the finish on the buttons or accessories, can help with your room transformation. Diamond bangles can be beautifully translated to an opulent chandelier.

Design Decor on a Small Scale: Accents & Accessories

Not ready to transform your room? Start small and introduce the inspiration gradually. Instead of painting your entire space in a color or pattern you like, create one accent wall. Not only will this lend itself to change when you're tired of the trend, but it can also be an amazing focal point within a space.

If painting is too big an undertaking, you can bring your inspiration in through accessories. Accent cushions, throw blankets, and smaller items like books or vases can all reinvent a space without emptying your bank account.

The sky's the limit when it comes to creating a fresh new space and your inspiration is literally at your fingertips, so pick up your favorite fashion magazine and get inspired!!
