Everyone sweats. In fact, the body needs to sweat to cool itself down. If, however, your sweating seems excessive, you may be looking for ways to reduce it.

Excessive sweating can be embarrassing and uncomfortable; leading to unsightly sweat stains on your underarms and a distinct odor. You may even find yourself avoiding social situations because of this embarrassing problem.

How to Control Excessive Sweating

The medical community offers various cures for excessive sweating including Botox treatments, surgery, medicines and creams. Not only are these treatments extremely expensive, but they can come with undesirable side effects. As soon as the treatment is halted, the excessive sweating returns. Scientists have not yet found a cure for excessive sweating.

The emotional and mental side effects of excessive sweating can be overwhelming and can disrupt your normal activities and lifestyle. Many people find themselves altering their clothing, regardless of the time of year and the discomfort this causes.

If you suffer from excessive sweating you may be seeking alternative remedies to control your excessive sweating. The following natural options can greatly reduce your sweating.

  1. Combine two tablespoons of raw honey and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Drink the mixture daily at room temperature or chilled for a minimum of two weeks.
  2. Deodorants alone will not solve excessive sweating. Deodorants mask the smell of body odor but do not affect the sweating process. You will need to apply an antiperspirant to achieve this. When selecting a product check the label to be sure it functions as both a deodorant and an antiperspirant. If you are unsure, the ingredients should include aluminum chloride or aluminum chlorohydrate.
  3. Certain dietary alterations can reduce your sweating. Sugar and caffeine trigger the brain to cause sweating. By avoiding these, your sweating will be reduced.
  4. Also reduce or eliminate onions, garlic, fish and spicy foods to keep embarrassing sweating odors to a minimum.
  5. Always try to keep your body at a cool and consistent temperature. Drinking thinned buttermilk or yogurt during hot weather can help cool you down.
  6. Tomato juice reduces excessive sweating. Start by drinking a cup of it daily for one week. The following week drink a cup of tomato juice every other day.
  7. Bacteria that feed on sweat cause body odor. If you bathe with some vinegar and lime juice mixed in with your water, the bacteria will be killed.
  8. Place cotton padding soaked with water and baking soda in your underarms to absorb excessive sweating and help reduce it.
