Well, I have. I have tested this theory out for the past year and I have to say that it works. It's tested and true. If you don't believe it works, I suggest you take the challenge and see if it works for you.
Over the past year, there has been this buzz happening across America called "The Secret" albeit, better known as "The Law of Attraction." It's not about how we attract the opposite sex. This concept is about how we attract elements in the universe to us.
In theory, we attract to us exactly what we put out into the universe. If we act like the victim all the time, we continue being a victim. If we think everybody is out to get us, then everybody is out to get us. If we think that we will never get ahead, then we never will.
On the opposite side of that coin there is the positive outlook on life. If we wish to have a happy, fulfilling life then we must keep our mind set on that goal. If we want love in our lives, then we must fill the universe with our own love so that it will come back to us.
"The law of attraction states," according to James Canfield. "That you will attract into your life--whether wanted or unwanted--whatever you give your energy, focus, and attention to."
If you want riches, fame, fortune, etc. then you have to put your dreams out into the universe so that it will come back to you. "You are constantly giving off vibrations of energy when you think and feel," says Canfield. "The law of attraction states that the universe responds to whatever you are offering -- by giving you more of whatever you are vibrating.

Re: The Law Of Attraction: We Determine Our Own Fate
By Mike Small, February 29, 2008 at 11:00Hi Michelle,
I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you. While the idea of shaping your universe with positive energy might not be new, I think that it is an important message. People can have an impact on their lives through their thoughts, whether negative or positive.
The only thing that sets off warning bells for me is that people might focus on the material. It's normal for someone to desire and wish for materialistic things, but I think there is a danger of someone applying "the secret" only to gain personal possessions. While this may work sometimes, I think it's unrealistic to believe that everything you want (not need) will appear, and some people might get burned for thinking so.
I hope I'm not sounding negative, I do think that it is a very enlightening philosophy. I would just stress a little caution. If you shoot for the stars, you'll probably end up on the moon, and that's not half bad.
Re: The Law Of Attraction: We Determine Our Own Fate
By Michelle Kenneth, February 29, 2008 at 12:40I agree wholeheartedly.
Sometimes "desires" are not the same as "dreams." I got into a discussion on Paul's blog recently about "desire." Desires are not attainable. The way the universe works is that what you desire is not meant to be yours.
Like I said in the article, we need to be open to other possibilities in our demands. What we think is good for us, may not always be good for us. Sometimes it is better to be open about what we want and take what comes back to us. At first, I wanted a certain job. I wrote that down on my list. I had the name included, the exact amount I wanted to make, etc. Then I realized, NO...there's something better than that out there. I had to look at my values in what I was looking for in a new job. I listed my values as part of my request to the universe. What came back to me was a job that embodied the values I was looking for in order to continue being happy.
In the love department, I could have said that I wanted a certain person. Well, what makes it sound like it's not desire at that point? It was better to just be open and say that I'm looking for something amazing. There were no specifics with hair color, eye color, what he does for a living, etc. I listed my values in what I really wanted. Next thing you know, I have a date with someone I had already gotten a positive feeling off of.
I've heard stories about people who wanted their businesses to change, so they made out a list stating what they wanted in order for their business to succeed. They did exactly what I did, and their business outlook changed and became more successful. There was another story about a man who lost his job. Instead of feeling down on himself, he and his wife opened up a bottle of champagne and celebrated the end to that job and cheered on the new beginning in his life. Two weeks later, he was offered a job that defined who he was so much better than the last job and they offered him a bigger paycheck.
I think the law of attraction is more about attaining dreams that will effect the outcome in our lives, rather than obtaining our latest whimsical desire.
Re: The Law Of Attraction: We Determine Our Own Fate
By luyen, February 29, 2008 at 09:13That's great that those things worked out for you Michelle, this is the first first-hand story i've heard of it happening, and i think, thinking positively at least benefits everyone...- when you made your list and looked at it everyday, did you have any doubts, or did you just do it matter-o-factly?
Re: The Law Of Attraction: We Determine Our Own Fate
By Michelle Kenneth, February 29, 2008 at 10:15You can't have doubts in the whole process, but they will happen. I wrote everything down "matter-of-factly" because I knew I wanted those things. I had to believe they were mine already in order for it to come to me.
For instance, with the job, I wrote down, "I have an amazing job that pays more money than I've ever made in my life..."
For the house, I wrote down, "I own a house that was given to me mortgage free..."
Reading these things like it already exists in your life three times a day, reminding yourself of that list, meditating/praying on it (whichever way you prefer) every single day will actually put the "vibrations of energy" into motion.
Now, with doubts, I was at first doubtful about the whole "law of attraction" when I first started out. So I tested the theory by putting forth something small into the universe like "It will not rain when I walk out of the office today. The rain will not start again until I am at home." Looking out the window, it would appear that something like that would not happen. I walked out the door and there was no rain. It did not start raining again until I got home. Coincidence?
They say that when you feel the doubts and negative energy building up, you have to acknowledge them. Then you must let go of them and change your mindset completely.
It's like my bout of the "F--- Yous" in my prayer to God. I was unleashing my doubts and negative energy. In the morning, I let go of those thoughts completely, apologized (which resets the mind to be positive once again and to have faith), and then the wishes came true.
I highly recommend reading the book, b/c I have to say it changed my life. I am happier and more peaceful with my life than ever before. Sure, I still get a little mad when things aren't going exactly how I want them to go in my time frame, but I let it all go. I believe it's all a part of the process. You just can't hold onto the doubts and negative energy. If you do, you get exactly what you don't want b/c you are telling yourself, "I can't have that," "it's not real," "nothing ever goes my way"...
Like mentioned earlier, karma is another way of describing the law of attraction. We get back what we put forth into the universe.
Re: The Law of Attraction: We Determine Our Own Fate
By Michelle Kenneth, February 28, 2008 at 14:20It's definitely not a new idea, but it is the latest BUZZ in America. Everyone's talking about it from Oprah Winfrey to the Today Show.
This concept has been around since the beginning of time. Byrne goes through the history of the concept in "The Secret."

By Melkor, February 28, 2008 at 14:15I'm not sure how new this idea is. Please see the Vedas, the Upanishads and the cosmic law of Karma (and its predecessor - Rta).
