Jeremiah Weed Southern Style Lemon Drop

Sweet Tea-Flavored Vodka in Arnold Palmer Too

By Sally Jane Leist September 6th, 2009 - 08:08 pm PT

Jeremiah Weed is well-known for its Southern-style sweet tea-flavored vodka. It comes in a few different flavors, but the most widely known is the basic Sweet Tea flavor. It is super sweet (after all, it is meant to be reminiscent of Southern sweet tea), and rather strong (70 proof).

A Lemon Drop is a popular cocktail shot. It consists of a shot of vodka, lemon juice, and sugar. The ingredients are shaken and chilled and usually taken with a lemon-wedge and sugar as "training wheels" (the equivalent of a lime wedge and salt with a shot of tequila). It is a good, fairly strong shot, without too strong a taste.

The most popular drink made with Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea flavored vodka is an alcoholic Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half Sweet Tea-flavored vodka, over ice). Another delicious option, however, is a Sweet Tea Lemon Drop.

Ingredients:

  • Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka
  • three lemon wedges (two possible)
  • three sugar packets (two possible)
Process:

  1. Fill the shaker with ice (normal amount for chilling a shot).
  2. Pour a shot of Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea-Flavored Vodka into the shaker.
  3. Squeeze 2 lemon wedges into the shaker.
  4. Add the contents of two sugar packets into the shaker.
  5. Shake till chilled.
  6. Strain into shot glass.
  7. Take a shot, followed by the third lemon-wedge and sugar packet, if so desired.
  8. Repeat as necessary.

A simple shot, and a manly drink that doesn't taste like one.

Ahh, the Lemon Drop. Such fond memories. The first "shot" i made when i snuck into my parents fully stocked liquor cabinet. that was many many years ago i will admit, but dammit, we made a good batch. or so we thought! (insert sour face). Years and years later i find myself always looking for new interesting cocktail recipes and i think this one just topped my list! Sounds delicious. A nice southern twist on a classic cocktail. Well done!
