Isagenix is the latest fat burning and cleansing system to make headlines. This completely natural and nutritional program still has some skeptical that Isagenix is just the next fad or scam diet, so let's take a look at the facts.

Isagenix 9-Day Cleanse

Cost: $200

What Isagenix promises: "Get weight loss and cleansing off to a fast start with the 9-day supply of the Cleansing and Fat Burning System. Seven pounds is the average weight loss for people using the Cleanse and Fat Burning System for nine days. The five nutritional components of the system help you cleanse while infusing your body with premium nutrients for optimum health and safe weight loss. Stimulant free."

What you do: Your 9 day "cleanse" revolves around 4 cleanse days and 5 shake days. Shake days allow for a daily regime that includes using the Isagenix products as well as 2 100-calorie snacks, a 600-calorie meal and daily exercise. The cleanse days are the first 2 and the last 2 of the 9-day program. They involve no food and instead instruct alternating between the Cleanse for Life drink, which boasts antioxidants, and the Isagenix Snacks, which claim to curb food cravings.

Isagenix 30-Day Cleanse

Cost: $285

What Isagenix promises for the 30-day cleanse "The 30-day supply of the Cleansing and Fat Burning System helps you create a cleansing and nutrient infusion routine to optimize health, help you feel younger and more energetic. Each pack is a full 30-day supply. Stimulant-free." -

What you do: The first 9 days are identical to the "9 day cleanse" program. Your following 21 days are all shake days during which you are encouraged to exercise and ensure you are taking all supplements included in your program. The 30 days are said to instill healthy eating habits, while the 9-day program is recommended for those just looking to cleanse quickly.

Isagenix Evaluated by Doctors

Many believe there is no need for supplements to improve a healthy lifestyle or loose weight. The Medical Letter concluded: "A balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables may be safer than taking vitamin supplements. No biologically active substance taken for a long term can be assumed to be free of risk."

Dr Harriet Hall MD, a retired family practitioner and on the Medical Advisory Board of Quackwatch, said in a recent review found on Junk Food Science " There is a disclaimer on the website that should be taken very seriously: "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease."

These comments and concerns are not deterring customers as Isagenix reported "Cumulative sales of over 300 million after just 5 years." A few satisfied Isagenix customers tell their stories in this ABC News review.

Dr Denis Harper says, "When Cleanse for Life is used correctly and as part of an entire Isagenix™ Cleansing and Fat Burning System Program, it provides amazing results. After four weeks using the Isagenix™ System, I had lost 25 pounds of excess fat and water. I now recommend it to all of my patients when they come through my office door. After all, cleansing is the key to permanent weight loss."

With any "diet" there is going to be positive and negative side effects, so we urge you to read the labels, read the reviews, and go into any diet aware of the risks and benefits.
