Real Housewives of Orange County

When people find out that I live in Coto de Caza, they automatically say, "Oh, so you have money."

Interview with Kara Keough

The Real Housewives of Orange County is a Bravo! reality television series that follows the lavish lifestyles of the women who live inside the gates of the exclusive Coto de Caza California gates. While the world watches Coto's divas primp and party, the next generation of Orange County is busy coming of age. Kara Keough is a real daughter of Orange County. (Her mom Jeana Keough was formerly married to a pitcher for the Oakland As).

I got into Cal for the spring semester and took my first college mid-term yesterday. It’s so different here than in Orange County. People at school don’t really recognize me from The Real Housewives of Orange County, but at home or in Los Angeles, peopleask if they can have their picture taken with me.

That’s so funny to me- to want a picture just because they see me on reality TV? Then again, I’m a very open person, and if someone wants to listen, I’ll tell them. I lived in Japan for a year when I was a baby and my dad was playing baseball there, but other than that, Coto is the only life I’ve known.

Filming Housewives of Orange County in Coto de Caza

The show paints it as a very exclusive, sheltered life, but my two best friends and my boyfriend don’t live, “inside the gates.” I don’t feel disconnected from people outside Coto or from the rest of America. When I say I live in Coto de Caza, people say, “Oh, so you have money.” That’s not necessarily true. It’s a beautiful place to raise a family.

Some people compare our lives to the characters on Desperate Housewives, but we’re not that dramatic. The housewives of Coto are catty, and the show portrays us as extremely competitive and I like my things and I may envy people, but it’s never about "one-upping" someone. I don’t think it’s about competition, but maybe I’m just naïve.

Botox Cosmetic Surgery and Playboy

Cosmetic surgery gets played up a lot. My attitude about it is that if it gives someone more confidence, I am all for it. The only time it’s bad is when it’s destroying your self-confidence…when you think you need that to be beautiful. I’m too young for Botox, although every time I scrunch my nose, my mom goes, “Botox! Botox! Botox!”

We actually have no say over how we’re portrayed or what ends up on TV. If we don’t want something extremely personal in our lives to be aired, we don’t let the cameras see it. People have advised me to distance myself from the TV show if I want to be taken seriously as more than solely a reality TV star.

People like to see success, but they also like to see failure. They want to see a roller coaster, to provide that drop along with the rise. I am a lot like my mom. We also both love to shop, but there are ways in which we're different too.

Playboy asked my mom (Playmate of the Year 1980) and I to pose together and I said no. I can’t imagine my high school teacher and the rest of the world seeing me naked. At the Playboy mansion, you feel welcome, Mr. Hefner is sweet, it's such a beautiful place, and they have monkeys! I wish I could have that without taking off my clothes. At least my mom was a Playmate so I feel I’m part of it.

Viewer Feedback for The Real Housewives of Orange County

In one episode I said that our family shows its love by buying each other things, but I take it back. It was my fault though; I was young. In the first season, the backlash was bad because I acted like a spoiled brat because I thought that’s how I was supposed to act.

People don’t attack me as much as they do the other people on the show. The things they say are horrible - I don’t know how people sleep at night. People can be heartless when anonymous, when they don't have to take responsibility.

The most positive thing to come out of the show is that people want to do your hair for free. I like going dark in Orange County, but up at Cal I miss my blond hair. I like to stand out.

More the awareness regarding plastic surgery builds in society, more the number of people getting ready for it.

It can be immensely dangerous to get exposed to the ill effects of plastic surgery but a thorough knowledge about dangers and risks of it is relaxing the patient, getting prepared for the consequences if arise and thus greatly reducing the harm. There is a adage saying no gain without pain. As rightly said, people of this modern world are prepared to take few risks in order to reap the benefits offered by plastic surgery.

The vital and most important aspect of getting operated by cosmetic surgery is finding a surgeon with expert qualification and renowned reputation for success. Although the break through provided by latest innovations in technology is there, a skilled cosmetic surgeon, well versed with on latest innovations plays a main pivotal role in the success of the treatment. A surgeon is not having skillfulness and expertise in identifying and preventing the risks surgery involved can jeopardize the safety and final cosmetic outcome.

Although, the risks and dangers are alleviated, still there are noticeable risks involved. The risks of plastic surgery vary with person to person and the procedure of plastic surgery patient and surgeons opt for. Again, the aspects and history related to the patient’s health carry immense importance. For example patients suffering from certain diseases like diabetics or heavy smokers are prone to the dangers of plastic surgery in aftermath situation.

Although, the risks or complications are very rare now a days , one has to seriously look after all probable risks and dangers of plastic surgery involved.

The following are some of the most common general risk sand dangers associated with plastic surgery.
1. Bleeding – Bleeding is pretty regular phenomenon for few hours following surgery and can sometimes results into complications. Blood clotting and its accumulation under the skin can result in a condition called hematoma which will be firm in appearance and feel, and the color of overlaying skin may change to blue or purple. The area experiences a characteristic pains but pain gets reduced gradually once our body's' own anti clotting mechanism starts addressing the specific area and reabsorbs the accumulated blood.

However, if the condition remains status quo and hematoma continual to grows, it will compress the surrounding tissues and disrupts the flow of oxygen through blood from circulating around that area. This may lead to numbness, swelling, inflammation and skin death. An immediate attention or perhaps a surgery is required to take out the coagulated blood. Moreover, presence of large hematoma can increase the risks of other problems like infection, wound separation, and necrosis.

During surgery and within next few hours, you become more susceptible to secondary line of infections as open wounds offer better access to bacterial and viral pathogens via, sutures, or drain sites. That is the main reason why the supplement of antibiotics is given during and following the cosmetic surgery. Typical signs of infection are fever, inflammation in a local area, foul odor, and discharge of thick yellow or white fluid.

There are also Seromas which are quite similar to Hematomas. In this case there is accumulation of tissue fluid instead of blood. They usually occur in operations involving tissue removal. They are identified by enlargement, increase weight, sloshing of fluids. The treatment involves compression or drainage.

2. Scarring- it is one of the most common risk one should be aware of. It is closely related to suture reactions and wound healing capability. During the process of healing, a thickening of skin edge and formation of granular tissue can occur. Most surgeons like to hide the scarring in places where they are not noticeable. For example in tummy tuck operations it is beneath the swing wear line while in breast augmentation the incision lines are hide under the crease of breast.

3. Necrosis – It is a death of tissues due to insufficient supply of oxygen to the operated area. The risk is very rare in normal cosmetic surgeries but in plastic surgeries involving face lifts, breast reductions, tummy tucks, there is a possibility of Necrosis. It increases with sudden inflammation. Smokers are very prone to this possibility as blood vessel constriction and relatively less oxygen supply. It is generally treated in early stages by hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

4. Nerve Damage – In very rare, extreme cases nerve damage can occur characterized by numbness and tingling sensation. Generally the nerve damage can last not more than 1 year. Weakness or paralysis of certain muscles may be experienced if a nerve related to muscle movement is impaired. It can be treated with reconstructive surgery.

5.Adverse Reactions to Anesthesia – risks due to use of anesthesia are very rare but nevertheless its hazards if occur are still there. The risks depend on the factors like healthiness and seriousness of surgery. Nausea is a common feature. Sore throat is also commonly experienced risk. The total risk factor of this type is generally very rare.

While dealing with serious issues like going under the knife, it’s best if you could take a second opinion before drastically changing your appearance. Although there are many books and sites that speak of the most beautiful features, it’s important that you are satisfied with what you have been endowed with.

Cosmetics reasons
Unless you have this huge distorted face or have had an accident that left you with an image that you dread to look into each morning, avoid coming under the physician’s knife. Cosmetic surgery has gained maximum importance thanks to the host of breast implants that have taken place so far. Thanks to science, looking good has never been a bigger deal than this. With the plethora of things cosmetic surgery can do for you today, it is only a matter of time when you pick and choose even the genes of your unborn baby.

Of course the surgical encounter has nothing to with genes, as this is another story altogether. But if you’ve really made up your mind to go in for a total change of look in the face, think of the pros and cons thoroughly. Ask the doctor for special care that goes along post surgery; after all looking good also means maintaining it that way!

Choosing a Doctor
Most surgeries require a qualified doctor for quick recovery. It’s best if you could research on this a bit and then take the plunge. Also make sure that your people, relatives and your near ones are around you for support while you've made up your mind. For first timers, however lucrative surgery results may be, there's always an initial jolt to be under the knife. Moreover, these are expensive. A good doctor can guide you through the pros and cons as well as the expenses involved in here. These can further elevate your confidence in the process o making you look more attractive to the world. There are several doctors that are yet to master the art, so look around as these novices may make you feel that you’ve been given the best treatment though, you might be left with severe scars, lowering your morale. Although there are many aspects of surgery that have been refined over time, there are still cases of surgeries going severely wrong.

The face can do wonders to boost your self-confidence if you’ve lived with stigmas hounding you for a long time. It may also have this huge positive attitude for you in store. Although a good doctor cannot guarantee that things would go out of hand, you need to understand your case very specifically as doctors get down to basics and generally give you an overview of the process. Even if they do get rectified in due course, choose a doctor who can tell you how "your" special case can be dealt with! After all your life is in human hands, which may or may not go wrong!

Types of Cosmetic Surgeries
While most surgeries are more nose jobs than the female assets, it’s important to note that most nose jobs have been marginally successful. Although the frequency of these surgeries may vary, nose jobs are most common amongst men and women. Women get most agitated when they need to have a great job done nearing their wedding time. While the eyes make the face a good lean nose is perpetually everyone’s fantasy. Most brides want to look their best and ensure that they will go to any lengths to make that happen.

A good thing in these types of surgeries is that because surgery of the nose is so popular, its improved over a period of time and can be done with little difficulty, once you are clear of the kind of nose you would want to be reconstructed. The same can be said about breast implants. There have been a growing number of cases dealing in breast implants that there are many doctors who have mastered the art of making you look fuller.

There may be many things you need to bear in mind regarding the surgeries, the most important part of it being that your surgeon needs to be qualified enough to understand the kind of look that you are aiming at. There are certain rules that you need to abide by when you are dealing with cosmetic surgeries. For example surgery of any kind requires you to avoid the UV rays of the sun and cleanse your face with any kind of make up. Most doctors today insist that you do not use make up for at least the following two weeks or so. You can choose to follow this by setting a new trend and going natural and mostly avoid chemical based facial procedures like bleaching. For all you may know, you might just damage the physician’s job by harming your skin.

In conclusion I’d say that it’s all that important to look perfect, but yes it’s important that you look the best to your personality and never forget what you are inside! Perfectly carved features may go well with your face, but if you allow the created near-perfect beauty to hog your head, you’ll be sorry that you went under the knife anyways! After all beauty is only skin-deep, it takes only your beholder to tell you how great you look, and if you’ve got attitude, then you lose out on the beholders!!
