Sundance: Animal Reproduction Shorts Season 3

The Sundance Channel has renewed the critically-acclaimed Green Porno for a 3rd season. Watch for it on September 14.

Green Porno is a series of very short films about animal sexual reproduction. In season 2, Green Porno moved from insects to marine life and stays wet for the third season as they focus on the sex life of such auspicious creatures as squids and anchovies.

Directed, written, conceived by, and starring Isabella Rossillini, Green Porno is a scientifically accurate and whimsical series that you don't want to miss.

Rossillini is a seductive and compelling narrator, whether she is mating with a whale or pondering the pros and cons of asexual reproduction. Directed by Jody Shapiro and Rossillini, Green Porno brings together a very diverse creative team.

Rossillini is a renowned actress and model and the daughter of film royalty, Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini. The delightful low-tech sets and soundtrack are all the work of the multi-talented Andy Bryers, and serve to make Green Porno an entertaining and refreshing reprieve from the typical nature film genre.

Green Porno in Schools?

This series is not carried by good looks and set design, but it will titillate young brains and make biology lessons an entertaining and thought-provoking experience. The scientific accuracy of the series comes from conservationist and scientific consultant, Dr. Claudio Campagna. Campagna has a PhD in Animal Behavioral studies from the University of California, and is actively involved in several conservation societies.

Green Porno reflects the new school of animal behavioral studies, which looks at animal sexual behavior from a frank and, yes, admittedly human perspective. Animal behaviorists, especially in the UK and USA, have long been guilty of denying or suppressing animal sexual research, or worse, making it all seem a little dull.
