Corey Haim Returns to Acting

Joins Corey Feldman in the Two Coreys

Corey Haim is a Canadian actor who became a teen idol and arguably as popular as Pac-Man, Rubik's Cube and Rayban sunglasses. He got his breakout leading role in the 1986 film Lucas, and went on to a large role in the cult classic The Lost Boys, which coincided with the beginning of a 20-year friendship and collaboration with Corey Feldman.

While the '80s were a golden era for Haim, he fell on hard times in the '90s, as he began to battle drug and alcohol addiction. Haim is now clean and co-starring in season 2 of The Two Coreys.

The Two Coreys was shot in Vancouver, and as Haim is Canadian he's at home despite now living in NY.

Haim said he wanted to act ever since his mother and sister won a refrigerator on Just Like Mom. He joined an agency in Toronto and flew out to New York. He had a meeting at Rob Reiner's house and had the choice to do Lucas or Stand By Me.

Lucas is about a nerdy high school kid who is bullied while Lost Boys had a $42-million budget, filming next to Lethal Weapon.

Corey Haim on Corey Feldman

Corey Feldman was in The Gremlins and their fathers all went to Venice Beach and played football, where they met. The Two Coreys gave them an opportunity to be executive producers, developers, writers and stars.

It was such a pleasure to interview Corey Haim for this article. I found him absolutely warm, positive and generous with his time. After all he's been through, he seems to hold no grudges. He's just optimistic, nostaligic and friendly. Thanks Corey, and congratulations on Lost Boys 2...I can't imagine them doing it without you.

I look forward to hearing from Corey Feldman in the coming weeks...after all, I can't imagine one without the other somehow. :)

Speaking with Corey was really surreal. I remember ripping out pictures of him, Ralph Macchio, Kirk Cameron, Corey Feldman, Wil Wheaton and River Phoenix for my school locker. What a trip! I have a feeling some of my old school friends will be a tad jealous. ;)

There is actually a funny story behind my meeting Corey. You see, I am originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and I take an occasional dance class in NY. I was at a morning class a few blocks away, and someone had told me that he was going to be at Planet Hollywood. Well, honestly I was eavesdropping in on a conversation ...(hee hee). I had a disposable digital in my car, as well as some free time so I headed down with hopes of getting a picture. I looked like crap because I was doing ballet for two hours prior ... thank God I had decent clothes with me.

I didn't get much of a chance to talk with Corey as there were several people waiting for photos, and I didn't want to take up too much of his time...but he is very nice and accommodating, and he made me laugh. Among most of the teen stars I had a crush on when I was 13 he was definitely one of my favorites, so it was a nice nostalgic moment for me, and made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, ya know, like when we were young. And he still has that amazing smile.

I wish I had more detail as far as conversation with him, however I am a pretty good judge of character and I imagine that he is an amazing person inside. You should have seem him with the children ... he was genuine and showed a lot of love and appreciation.

Wow! This is such a wonderful treat reading this article. I can't wait to see Lost Boys 2, because the first movie was such an amazing movie. Almost a sort of coming of age film for so many of us.

I always wondered what happened to Corey Haim, b/c I see Corey Feldman in the press every now and again, but never Haim. Like Heather, I was just the same, tearing out pictures of Wil Wheaton and the rest of the gang (next question is what happened to Wil Wheaton???).

Welcome back, Corey.

Hey Michelle - Well, I have e-mailed Wil Wheaton, but so far haven't heard back...Feldman is apparently going to write something for us too...but I guess he's pretty busy :)

At one point Corey was definitely overshadowed by the New Kids on the Block, and my interested began changing from actors to musicians. And I was pretty naïve and innocent back then, so when the story broke that Corey was addicted to drugs, and couldn’t get sober, well, I was extremely disappointed in him, and no longer held him in such high regard. I think the last movie I ever saw him in was "Blown Away" with Corey Feldman and Nicole Eggert, but by then, I was no longer naïve and innocent, and I saw this semi-porn flick for what it was, a desperate attempt by an actor to hold onto his career.

I have to understand that he faced tough times, the 80's were troubled years for teens as drugs emerged pretty fast, specially cocaine. There were many victims of drugs back then and they didn't have access to good drug treatment as we have today...
