Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare inludes realistic warfare scenarios, weapons that are used by the army right now, sounds of the enemy, and graphics that simulate actual combat. Combine these characteristics with the gun in the hand of the character you become and you feel like you could be right there on the battlefield.
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Realism and Accessibility
The makers of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare have spared no expense in making these missions seem as realistic as possible. Even though they are rated Mature, anyone can pick up a controller and become a sniper or an assassin in the game. The attention to detail that goes into every angle of every new environment in the game is astonishing. The visual stimulation combined with the soundtrack makes this game very compelling.
The real downfall to this role-playing war game and the others like it is the fact that these missions are so accessible. You really don't have to go through any basic training or virtually learn the skills of a real combat soldier. Nor do you have to learn the code of conduct for war and how to follow orders from a commanding and superior officer. You can simply turn on the Xbox, grab a controller and start shooting up the enemy.
Players risk becoming desensitized by their kills. Although the missions are set in a variety of environments, the most common one is Iraq, where a player might feel a sense of conquest and achievement as he goes through to shoot and eliminate as many of the emeny as he can. You almost feel like you should earn a medal of valor for your effort.
Dangers of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
The game can be quite addictive and last year became linked to the death of a young boy who spent a lot of his spare time in this virtual world. He disappeared after an argument with his father about how much time he spent playing the game, and was later discovered dead from falling out of a tree.
