Iot only was there not enough shelf space for my Atari, NES, Genesis, Super NES, Dreamcast, Gamecube and PS2, I could only have a few of them plugged in at a time because my power strip wasn't big enough for all of the clunky adapters.
I cannot tell you what I was thinking or on at the time, but I thought it would be a better idea to jam all the older systems into one box rather than spend an extra $100 on some more shelving. I figured it would be pretty easy since those four systems are all cartridge-based and basically run off the same voltage. One box, one power cord, one set of AV cables.
I've received a lot of flack from people arguing that it'd be easier and more practical to simply play games for these different systems via emulator instead, and I completely agree. It IS easier and more convenient to fake it. But I speak for myself and many others when I say that playing on the original hardware offers a certain nostalgia that no emulator can completely replicate. Period.
