You know society is going down the drain when even the ice cream man gives you a piece of his mind.

Mister Softee flipped me off tonight. No, I didn't ask for extra sprinkles or an extra scoop. I wasn't the kind of customer who stands staring at the pictures taking all day to decide what to order. I didn't ask for anything, this was a road rage related occurrence.

My boyfriend and I were driving home from a wonderful dinner tonight on Jericho Turnpike, about a mile away from my home. He signaled to turn off Jericho Turnpike onto my block and started to turn into the intersection.

Now Mister Softee, or rather the schmo that was driving the vehicle, was tailing my boyfriends car at the time, realized that my boyfriend was slowing down to turn and nearly hit us. He veered his truck around our car and as he passed us, blew his horn, called my boyfriend an "A$$hole" and flipped us off. Realizing the situation, I in turn, saluted his greeting back. As he drove off, he did it once more.

I was surprised because normally in these kinds of incidents, I usually do something much more offensive to other drivers; I give them a thumbs-up. I find the thumbs-up to be far more offensive than the bird. It really says to someone, "Good job for being such a moron!" I've actually had more success at infuriating people with that than flipping them off. But I was too shocked and perturbed to be sarcastic.

We were getting the one-finger salute from a dude who gives ice cream to children? What the hell?! It wasn't like my boyfriend slammed on the brakes trying to mess with this guys head, or tried to do something stupid. He was making a left handed turn. Simple as that.
