Sex And The City Is More Than Manolos

For some reason, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda have never failed to make me feel hopeful, lighter, confirmed, and inspired

Just recently, my best friend and previous roommate with whom I share a deep Sex and the City devotion, experienced a heart-shattering relationship revelation. As I consoled her, the season three disc two magically found its way into the DVD player and before you could say "funky spunk" she was laughing and yelling dirty curse words of agreement at the television screen.

I’m not saying that S and the C makes everything hunky-dory, but it does seem to have the power to lift us out of that opaque bubble of relationship stress, for just a moment, and remind us that there is life outside of the bubble and that the bubble itself is somehow comical.

That being broken up with on a post-it note can go from a dramatic slo-mo carnation scattering (one of the best moments in S and the C cinematography) to a doobie-induced icecream fest with friends within twenty-four hours. That, while relationships certainly deserve a level of seriousness, they also require a degree of humor and that, as cheesy as it sounds, we are not alone.

The Sex and the City movie provides those of us who have adored the Sex and the City series with an opportunity to revisit the Love (capitalization necessary). Waiting in line to get into the theater, the air buzzed with excitement, and remembrances of episodes past. It was like a giant slumber party, all of us united in our mutual adoration of the four women who have in some way or another assisted us in our parallel journeys to find romance and lasting friendship.

Some may claim that the movie is blah blah capitalistic, blah blah boring, blah blah too long.
